In the end I bought a console and didn't look back.
Yeah, that's the problem I have with console games too... you can't look back very easily.
With a controller, turning around to look behind you is a slow and cumbersome task. I much prefer a keyboard and mouse because you can spin around in under a second, it makes the game feel a lot faster.
I think this is quite a valid strategy. It's liek Visual Basic, it turns application development into a drag and drop excercise. Anyone can do it, even people who don't really understand programming! However that results in Visual Basic getting a bad reputation because anything that's written by bad programmers is going to end up a bit shoddy. Sony don't want their console associated with shoddy games. They'd prefer that only decent programmers create games for their system.
You make an interesting point in that it's free as in beer. However, isn't Java GPL'd nowadays?
Has anyone created a JRE installer that you know, just installs the Java runtime without any of this Sun crap?
Maybe it'd be a good project. After all, there are less intrusive versions of closed software like Quicktime and Real Player (in the form of Quicktime Alternative and RealAlternative).
I have to second this. Having done an honest job of trying to leave good foot prints behind,
Yah, thanks for that it made it so much easier for me to do your job after I back stabbed you and got you fired. How's the unemployed life treatin' ya?
I never have problems removing components from Macs. I take great pleasure it taking a sledgehammer to them after they die 2 days after the warranty expires!
I hate WiFi, I find it unreliable and worry about security.
I'd like to hear about the reliability and security of these devices. I'd be worried that my neighbours would be able to listen in over their power lines.
I forbid such usage- and deny you the ablity to read this comment out loud to your friends either.
As a Microsoft Preffered Partner, I understand this situation. How much will it cost me for the rights to read things out. Also, how far should I bend over?
The other this is, it's pointless! Even with current versions of Firefox, if you type in [map 10 Downing Street] to the address bar, you'll get a map of 10 Downing Street.
That's because words entered into the address bar tapes you to google's top result.
Google is already pretty good at working out what you want. Why would I want Firefox to override this?
If he's built a WORKING replica, I would hope VERY soon!
Nuclear bombs don't kill people. People kill people. Why shouldn't this guy have a born right to bear nuclear arms? If he wants to defend his property from double-glazing salesman, he should have every right to make use of the second amendment and protect his property!
The main problem I have with donating body parts for scientific research is that I don't want silly medical students using bits of me to play pranks on each other!
I suspect they're using high-quality top-end TV cables that cost $1,000 a meter. If you're just using a standard TV cable, of course you're not going to see the high resolution of SDTV!

As in a proper, scripted end to the entire world?
Has an MMO ever had a proper, scritped beginning? Or a proper, scripted middle?
What makes you think that devs would bother scripting an end?
does anyone know the website number?
127.0.0.1
Sounds like a plot from Armageddon.
Maybe Ben Affleck should turn up on the final day to make absolutely sure the game loses money!
The less you pay, the more you get!!!
And you'll like it too.

Sometimes programs would lose their minds.
Don't do that Dave.

Some would argue that Perl has been broken for a long time before Apple started meddling!
I'm suprised Sony have backed it. Not at all suprised that Apple haven't!

This is a very expensive solution. What part of Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks don't they understand?
Am I the only one who thinks we should attempt to land on it
Yes! Yes you are.
How do you propose to land on a 10 meter wide asteroid?

Netgear is still better than Belkin.
How much did they pay you to say that?
I have no doubt in my mind that Belkin is not one of the few. I wouldn't be suprised at all if most major companies do this.
It's just that Belkin did it in such a way that they were easily caught. Don't trust any reviews you see!
By the way, my Netgear router is the best, you should buy one! :)

Nope.
whooosh!
I find it interesting that they checked out 4 for the Mac and only 2 for the PC.
Does anyone else find it annoying that Mac users have a tendancy to use the term 'PC' as if it were a synonym for 'Windows'?

I, for one, welcome our new unwettable overlords!
It's going to make wet T-shirt competitions far less entertaining :(
