Technically correct, it was identified as a sudden "strange" smell as there are other gasses in those pockets, thankfully it was enough of a tip off.
She's asked permission (because it was taken in a restricted area) to let me post her videos to YouTube, we actually have some of this on (dark) cell phone video. Quite cool, and very dangerous!
My wife was out there Saturday night as a county volunteer with a pass to go into the restricted area. Her group walked right up to the flow on Ala'lli next to the transfer station (she's got some amazing videos on her phone, I'll ask her to upload them to Youtube later).
She was the first to smell a sudden burst of methane, mentioning it the leader of the group, he shouted "we need to get out of here, now!" An explosion followed mere seconds after they has cleared.
I cannot tell you how shaken I was to hear that story when she got home.
No links to the offical RPG? Is this Slashdot or what?!

It's Good Stuff(tm). It's almost brand-new too. I wonder if Green Ronin knew that other license talks were underway, because once we get videogames and miniseries, the value of that license is going to shoot through the roof.
Aside from a few "killer samples" that are specificly known to reveal weaknesses in the MP3 format, I agree you'd be very hard pressed to tell the difference between that and lossless.
But when I transcode to a 96k AAC for my portable (my desired format for bitrate/space) from that 256k MP3, it sounds worse than a file transcoded from a lossless source. No, I don't have ABX data to back this up, but it's a very reasonable assumption given previous test results.
A FLAC or other lossless file gives you the ability to transcode the music into YOUR format/bitrate of choice without additional artifacts being introduced, and this is a real plus to those of us with low capacity audio players.
Is to take a class at your local college or University. That's better than any book you could buy or forum you could visit. It really makes you process and apply what you learn, as well as making sure your education is well rounded.
The UNIX classes at my college have no prereqs, and cater to career professionals in atmosphere, attitude, and availability and applicability. I'm sure you can do just as well if you take a look.
I'm still trying to figure out how Vista is supposed to be great for gaming. I tried it and went back for XP FOR gaming. Since they did away with directsound all my game have cruddy 2.0 stereo sound, many of which pop and crackle horribly, especially Neverwinter Nights 2.
Simply put, many games are now unplayable due to absolutely horrible sound with no patches on the horizon for OpenAL since they're too old to be supported. And when I mean unplayable I'm not exaggerating, in some games I can't hear a damn thing. It's all stutters and screeches. Other games that fare better still lack surround sound, or even stereo audio positioning!
I'm all for encouraging open source & cross-platform standards like OpenAL, but it shouldn't be at the expense of effectivly ruining 98% of my existing game library. At least Starcraft works 100%. Oh wait, it works just as well under WINE?
So will Qt Java be supporting widget primitives in Windows like it does for other languages?
I'll bet it does, and that will be quite cool, as we will finally see Java apps that truly look & feel native!
"I don't know a single non-gamer (the majority of my friends) who watches dvd's on their xbox or ps2"
No kidding. A non-gamer doesn't have an xbox or ps2. For us gamers though, DVD playback is a nice thing to have. Especially when I take my PS2 traveling and hook it up in hotel rooms.
"Rare games used to be worth something"
*Gag*. I could care less. If the creators of the property are not making any money off of it anymore, I have no qualms aquiring it for free.
The only people making money off of rare games are asshats who want to sell the game for more money than it cost them to buy it in the first place.
Abadonware allows people who would not otherwise experience a great game to have the opportunity to do so once again. I think it should be hugely encouraged for all out of print games, as well as all out-of-print books for that matter, unless the publisher has immediate plans to release it again.
Even then, some people will pay for bound copies (or boxed copies of a game with manual) even if it is otherwise available for free. Especially of it comes at a reasonable price (which it better be if it's really old, or that's unfair to the customers)
I've been buying M-rated games underage since the ratings system existed. How do I do it without being hasseled by retailers? Online. Parents' credit card, yes; but it's not like you can usually tell a game's rating by it's title.
Opera users have been seeing the "new" page for quite a while when they use the integrated google search. I've been wondering what's been going on until today...

In my perfect world, all games would be available for all systems, and you would choose the systems based on price, controller, power, features etc.
For me, WWII has gotten old. Why yes, it *is* old! How about some more sci-fi? Maybe something based on david brin or another sci-fi author vs. the uncreative "dark" universe of Unreal, Aliens vs. Predator etc and hordes of others.

You can read the substituted implementation here: https://github.com/TTimo/doom3.gpl/blob/master/neo/renderer/tr_stencilshadow.cpp https://github.com/TTimo/doom3.gpl/blob/master/neo/renderer/tr_shadowbounds.cpp I won't pretend to fully understand it but it does seem to be an implementaion of shadow volumes.

Be making predictions like this? Aren't they too busy removing people's fences?

Does it run linux..? Yes it does! And you can even open a shell and write programs for it.

Quick correction, DVD Movies use AC3, not AAC. AC3 is a multi channel lossy format devised by Dolby Labratories.

Yes, but the question is, does anybody really have a different opinion?
