    I don't see why. OpenStep has been around for a long time. Obviously they don't have all the same APIs for the UIKit that Apple has but a lot of code could be shared since they implement a lot of the same classes.

    IF they really wanted a way to stop a terrorist from taking over the cockpit(as if they'd get through the door anyways), they'd install a device to release airborne anesthetic into the cabin. The pilots have emergency oxygen masks and they could easily land the plane while subduing the cabin.

    And what would happen if a suicide bomber strapped a bomb to a child and blew it up in a school, public library, blah blah blah. Why is it that airports are anything special? There are so many things you could do in a sufficiently crowded public place to cause terror, it's horse shit that so much effort is spent on airplanes. I can go rent a U-Haul truck and pack it with explosives, drive it into downtown Whateverville USA and blow it up. I don't see any screening for renting a U-Haul.

    Good luck getting into the cockpit. Unless the terrorists have machine guns, they're not going to get in. So say they can kill 5-10 people(max depending on how many there are) before they get shot by the air marshal or beaten by the passengers. They're not going to get into the cockpit I can guarantee it.

    Apple's A4 chip that powers the new Apple TV, iPhone and iPod Touch only supports certain formats in the hardware decoder. They don't seem to like allowing software decode which is why there's no mkv, divx, etc. support.

    Apple approached Verizon for the first iPhone but Verizon wanted too much control. Only AT&T would allow Apple the control that they have, but it came at the cost of an exclusive deal.

    If everyone knew what they're doing then that'd be fine but the average user is an idiot. They will click an email link supposedly from their bank warning them that there's a problem with their account. Then they will enter all the account login information. If people do this with bank info, they're going to do it with facebook info as well. This happens all the time.

    It wouldn't be that hard to do it within the website without this email loop which is dangerous. Just require the user to re-enter their login credentials in the download my profile section of the website. You will already know if you're on facebook's website at that point.

    More than likely, the planes don't actually have ADS-B capable transponders yet. The USA is moving to it as part of the next generation ATC system but it's not widely used yet.

    Eh? Encrypting this makes zero sense. The point of ADS-B is so that aircraft can detect other aircraft, as well as for ATC to detect the aircraft identification, altitude, etc.. This can eventually replace the TCAS(Traffic Collision Avoidance System) that most large planes have today which can detect the transponder pings, as well as replace or augment secondary radar.

    The iOS SDK has Grand Central Dispatch, which is Apple's easy way of dispatching and managing multiple threads. If you program your application with these APIs, as soon as a dual core iPhone comes out your application will take advantage of the 2nd core.

    GDamn, people are still retarded here. iPhone has been running multiple processes since it first came out. How else do you think it checks email, runs the phone, etc. while you're doing some other foreground function? The Darwin kernel on the iPhone multitasks and multithreads just as well as it does on a desktop. Also you seem to be completely unaware of the fact that Apple just released the iOS 4 software allowing 3rd party applications to run threads when they're not in the foreground. Stuff like VOIP, background downloading, music streaming etc.

    iTunes will sync your calendars so no doubt it needs some sort of Outlook plugin to do that.

    The prevalence of malpractice suits is hurting your medical system greatly. If any doctor dares step out of the crowd such as having too many patients on hormone replacement therapy, not prescribing drugs that the parents think they should get, they have to worry about being sued or hunted by the FDA. Meanwhile other countries are stepping outside the boundaries the FDA imposes in the USA and are better for it.
