    because WASTE networks dont scale very well.
    these people are trying to create, in effect, one giant network where each node belonges to a (relatively) trusted incividual.

    like a P2P equivalent of orkut.

    dunno who modded the parent down, but its actually on topic .... all that heat being dissipated by the liquid nitro there is coming out of the power socket ..... hence the huge bill you'd get if you run this things for a couple of weeks (not to mention the transport costs for 20 galons of liquid nitrogen ....)

    i dont like writing long rants, so i'll be short.
    first of all, regarding your 1st statement, i only wish it were true.
    anti-semitism in europe has reached an alarming peak, and many jews (especially in france) are simply fleeing from there.
    and second, regarding the american aid to israel :
    this aid comes in the form of money israel can only spend on _american_ military products, so actually most of this money is used to keep a part of the american economy alive, and not to be used by Israel as it wants.

    or maybe without US political pressure backed by US aid, Israel could finally let its army loose on the palestinians and end the conflict a lot faster ?
    (they dont buckle under european pressure anymore, the US is pretty much all thats left)

    the cost of sending stuff from earth to the moon is prohibitive, but its a lot cheaper the other way (provided you manufacture the vehicle on the moon and never expect it back) so once you set up a (reasonably) self-sufficient mining operation on the moon you can send stuff back relatively cheap
