I'm usually very open about things like this (i.e. I run F/LOSS, and do my best to champion it, and the ideals I have learned from it wherever I go), but this has absolutely nothing to do with something like that. If someone is using my wireless connection who shouldn't be, regardless of whether they are doing something illegal and/or whether I have encrypted the traffic on said connection, I'm going to kick their asses off!!! Plain and simple. Regardless of whether I choose (and yes, this is a fucking choice, unfortunately) to encrypt my wireless traffic or not!
Now, GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
Has no one ever seen "The Core"? OK. Dumb question. But the solution lies in this movie. Take some really dumb "scientists" (Al Gore), put them in something resembling a suppository made from a new material called "unobtanium" and have them drop nukes in the core of the earth. Come on!
If you're concerned at the difficulty of setting up MythTV try KnoppMyth. It's a one CD distro designed to make installing MythTV trivial. It has its problems, but its getting better. As for costs, I don't think TiVo offers a lifetime subscription anymore so that's irrelevant. TiVo can be obtained for little or no cost albeit with an agreement to sign up for a monthly subscription. MythTVs guide is free (for the time being at least). As for computer hardware requirements, it doesn't take much. About the only specialized and somewhat expensive piece of equipment you need is a TV tuner card. HD ones made for Linux can be obtained http://www.pchdtv.com/here.
After explaining how to click "Start > Run" and asking what was in the box (to which they replied, "command"), I told a customer to go ahead an press "Enter". The customer explained to me that they didn't have an "Enter" button, but there was an "OK" button.
I've been running a Myth machine for a while. I think I only paid around $350 (US) for most of the hardware (tuner card, case, hard drive). Of course, the rest of the hardware I came up on loot.
On another note, what happens when HD programs get DRM'd? No more MythTV?
I doubt CDs are failing. Unlike mp3s and other formats (FLAC is the exception) they are not a lossy format if you record them correctly. Not only that but if you buy them from the stores they are indestructible. Plus, when you buy them in the stores you have a much bigger selection. Try finding The Beatles on iTunes. Not going to happen. I used to have an iPod and now I'm in the process of updating my CD collection because they will probably never go away. OK yeah they probably will, but not any time soon. Sony's rootkit business was shitty but it still doesn't change that CD's are here to stay for a while. Here's an analogy: vinyl is to casettes as CDs are to mp3s (and other crappy lossy digital formats).

So similar to the "brown note" but with puke. The orange-yellow-red-black-green-blue note (light)?
You people would bitch if your ice cream was cold.

How is this new? I've been hearing commercials for this product for the past 3-4 months!
This from the guy who said that a computer would never need more than 640 kilobytes of memory.
Stairs....why did it have to be stairs?

LucasFilm hasn't made an impressive film since Episode IV the original.
Had to say it.
Yeah, but will it run Linux?
