  1. Re:Because they made it cool on Apple Cuts Off Linux iPod Users · · Score: 1

We're rare but we do exist. Look at Richard Stallman for a good example, he can do things in front of a public audience that would make other people rather gauge out their eyes. As for the iPod *meh* it's ok I guess but I wouldn't buy one. I wasn't into the whole Walkman craze, nor the rather smaller PCDP period. So why should I be interested in an iPod? all they seem to do is control the minutie of yet another portable deivce just like every other portable device that people are getting sick of using because the features are locked and it hardly feels like you own the damn thing. At least with a PCDP you could hack the hardware and set up a data line but from what I've seen you can't even get into the iPod chases; my guess is there just applying the same logic to the software now.

Privacy in this case must be squared with the detachment of a single person and the top echelons of the control on the society. And unfortunate as this is the natural right is for the responsibility for everything you do in social context to be publicly available. but only so far as it effects the public action that you've taken.

So knowing _who_ posted a comment is required because everyone should take responsibility for what they say, after all it is in the public.

On the one hand knowing that a person is gay when they are owner of a razor company or talking about vegetables has nothing to do with their public relations and is private to them.

Ah a balance, but it's not difficult in hindsight to know what is private and what is not.

On the other hand you have the problem that any member of the public or government will misuse the information in a way to hurt the person or their privacies but that really should be a problem with the miss-use not the authorship being known; prevention of misuse though is difficult the large the society get.

No this guy who wrote this article is not stupid or talking about old news, he's setting down exactly what everyone knows but placing it all under an 'idea' this is a very powerful brain tool that allows developers to move their projects towards such goals because they can quickly adapt the projects aims to incorporate the ideas without having to do the leg work of converting a music projects functionality into a photo projects functionality.

There is also the fact that they refuse to fix the 'securty' hole they 'fixed' in 0.8, there is no form of secure user selected file information so in firefox I can't show an image the user has selected before they upload it. which is just silly, fine it can be abused but think of a solution, the whole 'We don't care' attitude got on my nerves. It seemed like they would just go in for the quickist and dirtest fix posible which dosn't bode well for security updates.
