in michigan i've seen a trend of one cop standing on a corner directing drivers without seatbelts into a parking lot where another 5 or 6 cops wait to issue $65 tickets. fine, there's a seat belt law, but there has to be a better way to use 6 or 7 cops for the day.
i've been doing this forever in the form of ridiculously small shell scripts which launch firefox and plug command line args into a url. it works better as i can use the term window that i already have open instead of launching a browser, finding a site, figuring out the command.....
eg weather -h 48237 finds my local weather by the hour
i heard a story a few weeks ago explaining that people talk loudly on cell phones because they get no feedback in the "phone ear." with landline phones a bit of your voice is sent to your earpiece but with cell phones this is not the case.
But who produces the requirements? Not the programmer. That's usually the job of the business analyst,

kind of like the episode where picard gets stuck on the planet with the alien whose language is composed of nothing but references to his species' myths.
ironically, their frontline episodes are streamed.
Apple charges a very very large markup on their hardware, I don't think the margin on their software would be nearly as high.

get a g3 ibook. runs all but the greediest of os x apps just fine and i picked one up from a guy at work fro $100....they go for about 3-400 on ebay.
