Alanis Morissette and yourself, share a problem with the definition of irony.
I once heard a comedian go on an extended rant on how the events in Alanis' song, while unfortunate, weren't ironic. My two favorite examples of irony that he gave:
Scotsmen cloning sheep.
Naming the U.S. National Airport after the guy who fired all of the air traffic controllers (Reagan National Airport).
I have no problem with the government running passenger lists against an FBI list of known terrorists and felons
You mean like this guy? Perhaps if Herr Ashcroft and his cronies find some tenuous connection between you and some terrorist and ships you overseas for 10 months of torture and interrogation you'll be a little less rah-rah about the idea.
What's funny is he said "If I tried to then sell my work," then you present 3 options; one involves selling the work and including his source, the other 2 involve not selling his work.
I.e. his original statement was correct.
Actually, his original statement is false because the GPL doesn't prevent him from selling his work, only from selling other people's GPL'd work without releasing his source code. So, option two allows him to sell his work as long as he replaces any GPL'd code with non-GPL'd code.
It's easy to understand if you remember the old saying "there's no such thing as a free lunch". If you want to write all the code yourself, you own it and can license it any damn way you please. If someone else writes the code, you're bound by the license they choose, GPL or otherwise.
I figure Bill read Dubya's comments that all the chaos and bombing in Iraq was a measure of the U.S.'s success and decided to give the same argument a whirl with regards to Windows.
Or is it that Dubya, Rummy, et al are using Microsoft Security (sic) as a model for operations in Iraq?
additional 'other' courtesy of the Dept. of Redundancy Dept.
The real irony is that some people think these weapons programs are something other other than the corporate welfare scam they really are.

why the food at Safeco tasted 'off'. It's contaminated with SCO! As a Seattle native and Mariners fan I must register my deep shame and embarrassment.
Oh, the humiliation!
Lie detector glasses that work on press releases, coming soon from Nemesys-co!
That's not a bug, that's our business plan!

Shiver me timbers! It be an early Talk Like a Pirate Day this year! ARRRR!!!
What is the sound of an origami motorbike being folded?

This story obviously strayed from the herd during the recent roundup.
