Steam games are strongly tied to Steam accounts. The CDs that come in the retail box are really just "pre-downloaded content" so that you'll only need to download the new/changed content when you'll install the game. What you _really_ want to buy is someone's Steam account, NOT the retail box.
Keep in mind that destroying the used games market is part of Valve's plan.
Oh please. Q3 is far from being the worst FPS ever, but it certainly is one of the most generic ones ever. There is really nothing special to mention about Q3. Generic game modes with generic weapons. Plus it didn't have a single player mode (deathmatch with bots doesn't count), which you probably don't care about as far as I can tell, but is still missing half the picture on what a FPS is, especially since you actually compared it to single-player oriented games such as HL2.
BTW if you want speed and weapons balance, I suggest you go back to playing the original DOOM. I'm serious. For pure deathmatch, after all those years I've never seen anything faster and more balanced (not counting the fist and pistol).
No, the first one was about accepting the fact that some people are better skilled than others at particular things, and that we should not discourage others from reaching their full potential through those skills.
A weird message but still, it was a good movie nonetheless.
IQ tests are archaic "intelligence measurement" tests dated from times where we didn't know better but to label people with arbitrary numbers based on results from a test that only evaluates a tiny portion of what we can define "intelligence" to be. Please tell me our society has evolved to something better than to believe this shit.
Too bad kget is one of those godawful KDE apps that are somehow included in the main KDE packages for some reason (other such attrocities include kuickshow and ark).
BTW there's an in-progress KDE BitTorrent client that's getting pretty good (but isn't quite there IMHO): KTorrent
IMHO no operating system whatsoever reports memory usage correctly. There are way too many factors to consider, such as shared memory (ie. memory used by multiple programs at once from dynamic libraries) and mapped memory (ie. addressing that's not bound to RAM). You always end up with people blindly saying "program X uses up Y MB of RAM" without understanding what is included and what is not.
Except for Gmail I use Konq all the time. I find the Linux version of Firefox to be ugly and slow (mostly due to it using GTK) and lacking any sort of integration with my KDE desktop.
I couldn't agree with you more about the handholding part. Tutorials are one of the biggest signs of bad game design, unless those tutorials are really well done and fit naturally with the rest of the game. For example, the original Half-Life wasn't too bad because the tutorial was disguised as an HEV training course. They easily could've put those elements in the first two chapters of the game though.
No, Prescotts don't work in laptops, but some idiot laptop manufacturers put them in anyway. I know someone who has one, and it sounds like a blowdrier all the goddamn time. Apple just wasn't batshit insane enough to put a G5 in their laptops.
5.5e6 * (12.99+14.99)/2 * 12 = 923.34 million dollars (or 1 shit-ton dollars) I bet they're laughing all the way to the bank, which according to my calculations is approximately 0.00000000327 shit-ton meters from their headquarters office.
Well, maybe 5.5 millions "subscribers" is bullshit and is really in fact the number of units sold, therefore including both subscriptions and un-subscriptions.
As far as MMORPG usage statistics go, I don't really see why people care about them. We have zero proof the companies are showing up the real figures.
"Denigration of people"?? Talk about overreacting. I never said people who disagree with me are idiots or something. Do you always whine at everyone who voice out their opinions without beginning every fucking sentence with "In my opinion..."?
To quote Maddox:
Any time you say something sucks around someone who disagrees, they try to validate their taste in shitty music/movies/clothing by reminding you that you still only speak for yourself, as if their opinions are in jeopardy of being monopolized by your own. Everyone already knows it's my opinion by virtue of the fact that I said it, no need to restate the obvious you dopey twat.
I don't know about the N52, but I have a N50 and it's pure crap.
The keys feel stiff and are not sensible enough. It also has a throttle. WTF? No FPS whatsoever needs that. As for the thumb D-pad, it's nice but there really should be buttons instead.
But the worse thing is it has major "keyboard matrix"-style issues, ie. most 3+ key combinations don't register properly, for example I couldn't crouch while moving diagonally left and back. Yes, they actually made a *gaming* input device that can't handle 3 multiple keys at once. That's just sad.
I used to like Star Trek, but I've been watching many "space opera"-type Sci-Fi series lately, both new and no so new (Farscape, Babylon 5, the new BSG, Firefly, etc.), and I've come to the realization that Star Trek (as a whole) really sucks. Seriously, if you need a "Trek fix", maybe it's time you broaden your horizons. Trust me, you'll be glad you did. You'll quickly understand that Star Trek is overrated crap.

Aren't the Muppets owned by the Jim Henson Company?
Honest to god. One more Ballmer joke and I start killing people.
I didn't know Ballmer was a slashdotter.
Yes but Apache runs on many more platforms than IIS so it's harder to find exploits that can reliably hit a large percentage of servers.
IIS is the danger of monoculture at its finest.

No, games usually use a second thread for sound. There's not much point in threading AI.
Personally I think the actual reason the MacBook Pro has no FW800 ports is simply because Intel still doesn't make onboard FW800 controllers yet.

Nice. Please call me back when uTorrent will have that feature Azureus has that's called "runs on more than Microsoft's operating system".

Good to see the mods are doing their job right, modding down people who say things that are true.

"Sadly, Disney's video games will now suck - they'll all be stupid puzzles."
No, some of them will be pro image editing apps.
"n86"? WTF is that? First I thought it was a typo, but you used it twice...?

Thank you for being the only one who said something intelligent among the ones who disagreed with what I said.

Believe it or not, some of us need that "four-cylinder Chevrolet engine".
