  1. It's Funny. Laught on Pirates Promise Improved Version of DaVinci Code · · Score: 1

FTA "When the reporter confronted the vendor on the street about the issue, he got a pledge from the "sales associate" on duty that the better stuff would be along shortly. I guess it's just the sheer audacity of the statement that makes it almost humorous..."

Is in /. because is Funny ( if you don't like this kind of post you can config that)

    Besides that

    The Copyright _MUST_ be respected.

I'm against the "piracy market" in some way, but what about the P2P? (or People to People :)

Always comes the same point: When i _SHARE_ a movie with my friend, I'll be breaking some laws... but keep in mind this: "I will be a better human being"

When your profit is directly related with the prohibition of something SO NATURAL like SHARE, YOU are fucked up.
The act of share a movie/cd/book always exist, now with the "new" technology, is easier and more popular. (The ria acts like a child when blames the "rules")

FTA: Apparently, a couple of really "hot" movie DVDs are being peddled in Shanghai. One title hit the bogus street shops just hours after the film held it's debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

AFAIK the ria doesnt have jurisdiction in China.. don't know for sure.

  2. Somebody want more money on Ticketmaster to Start Online Ticket Auction · · Score: 1, Informative

Maybe this is not a big deal, it's just "Ticketmaster", but everything has a beginning.

I think that the "new" system, only generates more profit (everybody knows this :P )... the tickets will have the "same" minimal prices (maybe somebody save some bucks some day), but they catch that people who buy tickets at EBay (at least a big part).

If Ticketmaster have the infrastructure is a really good move.
Some ppl pay more than 5 times (even MORE) the "original price".

    Take a look at Madonna:
    On Ticketmaster
    and
    On eBay

  4. RIAA defending artists? on Artist Suggesting Ways Around Copy Protection · · Score: 0

"In general, they [Copyright Laws] are designed to protect the rights of artists while preserving the public's right to benefit from the works of those same artists." (From RIAA.com )
Its seems that the Artist doesnt WANT some "protections" :P

The artists should not sign if the contracts of the Record companies requires they "soul". The musicians and the music exist since always... the companias not. ;-)

BTW i dont want to sound as an asshole, but that info was posted in the sonymusic forum some days ago... maybe its all marketing? :?
Although thinking it better, if those are the "PROTECTIONS" that they are developing, I do not believe that they have many people qualified managing the forums.

    Good Bye

Above all, I want to clarify that I did not want to sound aggressive or troll, simply was an opinion.

Besides, very few enthusiasts are trying to keep a CPU working for seven years, so even in those cases where there is some reduced lifetime, it's seldom a concern.

Thats a good point, but I have a Celeron (P4 based), and in a time I will sold it to an office, where surely it will be up for various years. Here in sudamerica the need does that many pc be maintained during years, and not exactly because they are enthusiasts. Besides that, i know what you mean and you are right.

The article provided a lot of useful information. I knew much of it, but that doesn't mean that everyone knows everything in it.

IMHO it treat certain points in an incorrect way (as the Windows Security Updates, becouse the "regular" user, must leave that enabled) and some others in a really poor way like that of Windows Vuln. And I am not seeing it from my personal point of view, since the things that already know were treated badly or very poor and the ones i dont, did not have anything of interesting.

Really i dont want to sound troll but this article sucks, maybe the "monitor and pixel guarantee" is usefl but there is more than 10 pages saying nothing or doing wrong recommendations.

    Good bYe

PS: Do you overclock your cpu?

  6. My 2 cents on 20 Things They Don't Want You to Know · · Score: 0, Troll

High-End Manufacturers Don't Always Make Their Products

This one its true, but AFAIK the difference will be in the tests that the product has passed. That way they set the brand.

My opinion about the other points, already has been treated in others posts. But in general the article is poor and somehow little useful.

    Good Bye

All of this Google "thing" (*paranoid*) bring me some doubts... the centralization of data (a LOT of personal info) NEVER will be good.

I hope that "Google IM" has the features that the "regular" user seek in his IM prog (all the "cool" stuff that MSN Messenger has), thus maybe my friends (and everybody) will begin to use a FREE IM protocol.

Jabber (the FREE IM protocol) exists for some time ago and i dont see ANY reason to start using the talk.google.com (jabber server).

I use Jabber(i use it from centericq, imcom, Gaim, kopete, among others) for a long time ago, and i REALLY try to all my friends start using it, but they still use the (lack of "geek" features and stability) MSN Messenger. I really wait the Google IM program, becouse jabber exist for some time ago, and IMHO doesnt have ANY reason to use the Google servers. The good thing of this news is that maybe with the Google IM all my friends (and everybody) start using a FREE IM protocol (i say that for Jabber)

Peopple doesn't has to "beg" his gov for security, is the duty of the gov provide this security. Im not too smart or work for gov, and i can think about two or three ideas to stop fear and don't invade privacy, so a better qualified professional must has a LOT of ideas.

Anyway i will fly a little and tell that this is how society works...
Society adopt us, call us "good boy" (like niger the dog), then we sacrifice freedom and power, for some unneeded stuff (that the society sell for years), then we realize of all of this (maybe not) and you can choose "run like hell"!, but then if when allmost everybody say "ok i accept the RFID if it's for more security and blablabla"

Olimpic games its a bad example, to discuss becouse i dont aprove olimpic games, i think its stupid (medaling stuff).

I dont share your point of view... i mean, be better all the time is what i want, but becouse i want to be better, not becouse i want something for someone, that doesnt makes me better.

You must understand that i dont denigrate them, im putting thing in place, thats the problem i was talking about you and of course some CEOs among others who look at some guy who shoot a LOT of things in an "ambiented" game (sound good ;)), to do things he isnt ready.

Menawhile this guy was shooting, there is another, studiyng the birds (he knows everything about it), and nature, and a lot of different weapons.

Both are doing what they want to do, there is nothing wrong or somethig like things on them, but some peopple are taking the guy shooting as he was the other guy.

I wasnt enter in sony music with a gun an steal material, i bought a Pink Floyd cd, and share with a lot of peopple. Yes im breaking the law, but worst if i dont SHARE this music with others.

I dont know how they will stop the listeners natural impulse to share the music they love (ITs NATURAL THAT PEOPPLE WANT TO SHARE), now music can be copied completely faithfully, and without cost.

There is a REALLY interesting articles about this subject of SHARING MUSIC, but IMHO this one sucks.

The music exist and doesn't need RIAA, its the RIAA the one who want to use the most important thing in this world to make some profit.

    Chao

PS: We can derivate to the idea of "respect only the laws I think are corrects", and THAT can be ANOTHER discussion.
