Actually the recent Seagate Barracudas aren't that quiet. The Cuda IV's are, but thats not a "recent" model. The current quiet champ for 7200 desktop drives is the Samsung Spinpoint series with Nidec motors. I have both the seagate and a samsung spinpoint, the samsung is quieter. check out SilentPCReview 's Recommended HDs
It has nothing todo with RAM. All those cards listed are DX9 level cards. While OS X doesn't support DX9, they do support the same features in openGL, and that's whats needed in CoreImage. The radeon 9200 is not a DX9 level card (dispite the 9 in the name, its just a rebadged 8500).
No, quartz is optimized, but it is also vsync'd and double buffered. It is also completely vector based. Take an explorer window and drag it around really fast. It'll tear. You can't get windows on OS X to tear. Also, because it's completely vector based its trivial to implement things like expose.
OS X is hardly unresponsive, but its not as snappy as running a GUI that was designed for pentium 1 pressors on a 4 GHZ Pentium 4.
Actually they have a 20 or so page limit. I know because I recently tried to do this when a bookstore didn't have a book I needed.
And to view copywrited content you need an account with a credit card on file. So assuming you have number_of_pages_in_book/20 credit cards, you can read the whole book, just create a new account every 20 something pages, but otherwise you can't view the whole book.
simultaneous video record and playback requires an even faster machine, especially for higher resolutions. We'd recommend something over 1 Ghz if you want to use that feature when it comes out (based on the hardware needs of mythtv).
Freevo doesn't support what the other two software packages in this comparison support, the ability to pause live tv, rewind it etc.
Yeah except I signed that lease and it has no such clause. And the University doesn't even manage the Apartments, they are leased and managed by a third party.
Because the wireless in the Apartments sucks. It's NATed so you don't get a real ip, they traffic shape everything but web traffic to nothing so good luck playing games or anything else that requires decent bandwidth and latency. The whole apartment complex is sharing a few wireless links to the real university network, so the cable and dsl networks actually have vastly more bandwidth then the Universities wireless network.
The Happaugauge card is not only worth it because of the hardware encoding, but also because it has a far better tuner and digital converters than any of the bttv cards out there. I have a MythTV box with a bttv card and a pvr-250 and the 250 video is by far better quality. Less noise, better contrast etc. If you shop around you can get them OEM for 70 bucks, which is how much I paid for mine. Way better buy then the bttv card for 50 bucks.
You're comparing apples to oranges. The only way Gmail can offer 1GB or space on their email accounts is that the majority of people will probably not use it. And with attachments limited to a certain size, it isn't easy to fill up. However with iDisk, if you're paying for that space you will most likely use it, and since iDisk doesn't have attachment limits it is also easier to fill. That said, iDisk pricing is a bit steep, but comparing it to gmail isn't really fair.
Vonage minutes are not used for incoming, voicemail or 1 800 calls or calls to another Vonage customer. It isn't a cell phone, and isn't billed like one.
I too bought a WRT54GS because I knew it came ran linux and could do QoS. Someone told me about Sveasoft, so I went to their site, and apparently the public version doesn't even support the GS. But thats okay, because there are many other options for it.
I'm using Open Wrt which works wonderfully. May not be as easy as sveasoft, but its free and actually comes with the source. In fact the main site only distributes source, though you can find binaries as well. There are also other options if you google around for a bit.
I had a girlfriend. She dumped me though, but she still gave me a gmail invite. So I had one, lost it, but got the other. By your standards I'm one up, but I think I'll disagree.
The chroma channel on DVDs is also only half the resolution of the luminance channel so that argument isn't really valid. DVDs are stored in 4:2:0 format.
this article explains it nicely in the chroma formats paragraph a little way down. The problem has more todo with seperating the two channels and analog signal loss.
Are you referring to MythTV? Because Mythtv has very little todo with what cards are supported in linux. In any case the Ati TV wonder VE is supported, so don't claim ATi cards aren't supported, because the stand alone ones are, just not the all-in-wonder cards.
No, I mean if one planet can support x amount of population, then two planets can support 2x amount of population. It has nothing todo with "wrecking" planets. It has todo with expanding our civlization beyond this one small planet.
Allowing people to do as they choose and die if they wish is not the kind of statement that comes from a fanatic. Forcing your beliefs on others by requiring them to die is the sort of statement you expect from a fanatic.
There's no way earth can sustain our current growth rate indefinitely, let alone what would happen is people increased their lifespans. Indefinitely extending human lifespan is a death sentence for earth itself.

Actually the Air2PC card can decode cable HDTV. Assuming they're unencrypted of course. Supported by mythtv.
Someone hasn't seen Lost in Translation.

The frontend will supposedly compile on OS X as of the last release but you would still need a linux backend for recording.
When freevo supports watching live tv maybe it might compare, but it doesn't yet.
Those are Access Points connected to GT's wired network. UTD is trying to ban all access points, none of which are connected to thier network.

you realize that the size of the blocks is configurable right? as are the colors. Mythtv->setup->tv settings->program guide
