From what I remember reading when OpenOffice 1.2 came out, and after a cursory examination of the Mac Porting Page... the answer is "Not for a long, long time."
The decision was, in the long run, it's just not worth trying to get OpenOffice 1.x to Aqua. The development time is better spent on OpenOffice 2.0. Hey, they have better estimates on the work it takes to do that than I would.:-)
So anyways, to actually answer the question, I quote from the site: August 18, 2003: Development of OpenOffice.org 1.x on Mac OS X has been limited to X11. All development of Quartz and Aqua versions has been postponed to OpenOffice.org 2.x with expected delivery in late 2005 to early 2006. See the timeline for details.
There's a few reasons, and most of them on their own probably aren't good enough to merit an IPO.
Maybe they're interested in using some of their cash to advertise their browser in the media.
Maybe they want to hire more developers to get more features (God knows what) into the browser.
Maybe they want to differentiate themselves from other software out there... that maybe somehow, an IPO makes you look better. Doesn't make sense to us, but average Joe goes, "Hey, Opera, aren't they in my fund?"
Maybe it's a good thing a company wants to go public and set its sights higher... and actually have the innovation to back it up.
Too many windows on your screen may tax computer "power" causing animations to run too slowly, but if they're too fast, you might choose to run additional programs to use up computing power and slow the animations.
So it looks like JPL's also providing a newbie guide on "tweaking your system.":-)
I'd like to see how someone with a 3.0 GHz PC handles this...
So you can probably imagine how confusing it would be to be part of both cultures.
The difficulty of having Asian parents while growing up in an entirely American culture has been pretty evident... it's slightly different for every Asian-American, but from my experience and all my cousins (yes, all 15-20 of them) there's always been culture shock when it comes to girlfriends, spouses (don't get married 'til you're 28!), life decisions (you should be a doctor or a lawyer -- although at the time, software engineer was a respectable decision), and general parental control of your life.:-) Ask any Asian-American that grew up here about it, and chances are they've also been torn between the clear individualistic culture here and the clear group-oriented culture their parents came from and raised them to be.
And precious few books have been written about the subject, too... but that's starting to change. The Joy Luck Club was a start.
It doesn't specifically tell you, but if you try to fire up Maestro without Java3D, nothing happens.
As it is, this is a quality Java app -- reminds me of old *quality* Encarta multimedia footage (back in oh... 1998 or so). Just better.:-)

Wow, an Israeli consultant, a National Weather Service researcher, the professor of a nonexitent college and a corporate lawyer -- all in the same day! I, sir, am quite impressed.
Okay... call it greed if you want, but like it or not, this could easily be your mother, father, grandfather or grandmother. To those that are uninformed, have lost retirements in the last four years, been spending more and more money on medicine (his wife is *disabled*, after all) these scams look just real enough to be true and play on just the right strings to make them fall for it.
Have your parents ever been in that situation? Would you be sitting at your computer calling them stupid and greedy just the same? Please remember that these are real people behind the names.
It basically can mean aerial coverage of precipitation... at any point in time during the forecast period, it will be snowing in 30% of the forecast area.
This is a stretch, but, uhh... McDonald's serves Coke. Wouldn't Pepsi be just a little bit upset to have Apple indirectly supporting one of their competitors?
If this was Burger King, I'd put more weight to this story. Expect an official rebuttal sometime today...
Translation: All you Mythica developers, we have a few NT bugs to fix... (fp) :-)

I guess that means my phpRecipeML program is going on the back burner. :-(
From the same link (look at "platforms"), it looks like Mac OS X has been lumped under the general term "Linux", so don't count it out yet... :)

The funny thing is, it's posts like this that help me figure out where I can find even more decent Mac sites. So, umm... thanks... I guess? ;)
