    When you buy $100 worth of goods with a credit card, you receive $100 worth of goods. You pay nothing. The vendor, however, receives $97. For me, it's all upside -- credit cards are convenient, offer fraud protection and often have benefit programs that I like.

    As I understand it, lasik removes material for the near-sighted; for the far-sighted material needs to be added to the lens. I believe there is surgery to do this, but it wouldn't be called lasik.

    Say what? Maybe you're talking about the apps that are built into a phone's ROM, but to the best of my knowledge, there's no way to disable an uninstall button in Android.

    Growth in cancer doesn't necessarily mean an increase in cancer, it means a decrease in other causes of death. So, a decrease in cancer might indicate increases in other, presumably preventable ways to die. Another way to put it is, that if you remove all the other causes of death you'd still be left with cancer.

    So, let me get this right. YouTube uses Shadow DOM v0, which while currently supported by Firefox has slow load-times. Wouldn't the best solution be to have Polymer use Shadow DOM v1, and for Firefox to load this at competitive speeds?

    When I was first starting, most of my time was spent keeping code written by the prior developers working. The main affect this has had on my development, is to write to the logs frequently. In particular, I want the log to reflect what it is the code is trying to do, anything about the state of the system that would help, and obviously the details when it fails.

    It doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to be better. This is pure speculation, but given a Hyperloop vehicle's more limited range of motion, and new infrastructure it should be more reliable.

    Correction -- I just checked my bill. They charge me $1.50 per month for the CableCard, but they deduct $2.50 each month for "customer owned equipment".

    FWIW, Comcast doesn't charge me for the CableCard which is installed in my Tivo, so no monthly cable box fee.
