I mean the articles about Activision and their proprietary controllers was far more news worthy than XBox Live not being able to handle increased capacity. Seriously is Activision paying the editors here to keep their bad press of the main page or is the anti-Microsoft sentiment just that high.

NDAs and other contracts are protected by legal statute. Violation of a legal statute is illegal. Making an agreement with someone to break the law is called conspiracy and is also illegal. Finding out something is one thing, but asking, or enticing, someone to break the law is another.

This allows them to charge the same price as Sony and MS with it appearing like they have the cheaper console, while making 4 times the profit they would have with their MSRP.

Why is it that past acts of criminals are free to post for public viewing yet the same people that want that information are the first to jump and say that tapping their phone or filming them without permission is ethically wrong. Lets just make all conversations and actions a matter of public record. Imagine how much better our decisions would be with this information. If we could just go home, look up someones name and determine whether we agree with their history or not it would really free us from having to actually get to know people. You know what lets go all the way and make all thoughts a matter or public record. What a wonderfully safe world we would live in then.

Read up on the fallacy of devolution if you want to understand that more. Second those same things you are say are not evolution are by definition evolution. There is no longer a reason for mutation to occur which will reduce congenital defects so why would an evolutionary chain waste generation of solving the issue. So instead mutations can occur in areas of genetics which are actually important to modern mankind.

In other words Neubauten is not mainstreamish. But what is even worse is you miss conception that purchases of Neubauten recordings does not support the RIAA. Neubauten is signed to Mute Records which is a wholly owned subsidiary of EMI with is one of the largest suppliers of funds to the RIAA (Though this has dropped recently it has certainly not dropped to nothing). Even if you purchased a recording directly from members of the band without a single dime of it going to the bands record label (which is probably a violation of their contract) you are still supporting the label by supporting their bands.

I love the idea of the boycott as a means of consumer control, but trying to boycott the Big Four is just short of saying that you will no longer be listening to music, record or otherwise (and this is coming from some one with an extensive collections of independent unsigned musics and a promoter of such musicians).

Currency value is only one way of measuring the concept of busiest shopping day. Others would be number of shoppers and number of units sold. Because black Friday tends to include numerous specials the average cost of products is lower on that day than others. Because people are looking to take advantage of these deals they do more "shopping" and with less relative purchasing.

Either way, that is insignificant to the original argument that black Friday is an anomaly and sales form that week should not be considered indicative of any trend.

Both of these run OSX indistinguishably from Apple hardware, except for the one odd quirk that sound inputs and outputs are disabled. You contradict yourself in a single sentence. Either it is indistinguishable or it is not. I would be pretty upset if my OS did not support my sound device, or worse a video device. Luckily because I run OS X on a Mac I know that they will always be compatible.

Both Linux and windows have shown that adding hardware support in no way decreases the stability or quality of an OS, assuming the drivers are written well. This is the point. It's much easier to create well written drivers when you can focus on a small set of hardware components to support. And using Windows or Linux on anything but a very small fraction of hardware, as an example of stability is a complete joke.

I don't want Apple to have to waste resources on supporting your sound device, or or video device or what have you (as you mentioned you have some issues with both of those). You can also see that upgrades could easily cause things to break or take considerably longer if a larger set of hardware was support (wireless does not work on generic hardware with Leopard and Windows release cycle is slow compared to OSX, just as a couple examples).

If you take the physics, AI and visualization out of the game then pretty much all games would run just fine on 20 year old consoles and the Cell processor would handle it on a single SPE. Any Mac user with any knowledge at all knows that they one of the main reasons that OS X is as stable as it is happens to be because it runs on a very controlled set of hardware. Apple customers, those that pay money to apple for the right to use their products as intended, actually prefer the hardware lock-in because of what they gain from it.

I would love to be able to play with OS X on a couple non-Mac machines I own, but I would never ever request that Apple open the OS for operation on generic hardware.

My bet is that there will be a lot of happy 360, Wii and PS3 owners and all three manufactures will be announcing their next entry into the game console market (With the possible exception of Microsoft, who is showing signs that they are considering pulling out of the market, but I certainly would not make that prediction just yet). At around 50 million total units we may start to see a clear winner emerge but the one things that looks pretty certain is that it won't be a total blow out like the last 2 generations, and some people seem to think this is good for the market. I only hope that it is.

I will end up chosing the console that is bound to have the games I like, but so far I am in with the majority of the gaming market and have not seen a reason to get a current generation system (therefor I have not wasted $600 or even $1)
