Complete Set List for Guitar Hero III
Wowzer writes "Early leaks have revealed the complete 74 numbers set list in Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock . Developer Neversoft had hoped to keep the last remaining 14 songs a secret until the American launch of the game on October 28th for PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. From the article: 'Tier 1 - Slow Ride (Foghat), Talk Dirty to Me (Poison), Hit Me with Your Best Shot (Pat Benetar), Story of My Life (Social Distortion), Rock and Roll All Nite (Kiss), Sabotage (Beastie Boys). Tier 2 - Mississippi Queen (Mountain), School's Out (Alice Cooper), Sunshine of Your Love (Cream), Barracuda (Heart), Tom Morello's Original Boss Battle Recording, Bulls on Parade (Rage Against The Machine), Reptillia (The Strokes).'"
Unfortunately, now that Harmonix has given up the GH franchise, I doubt it will get better from here. Harmonix invented this genre (Amped, Guitar Hero, GH2) and they have moved on to do Rock Band, which will sell for fairly decent if nothing more than fan loyalty to Harmonix.
Man I can't wait for the PC version; admired all my friends with PS2's & Xbox's for far too long.
And I'm sure the streaming video will work beautifully now that they've been slashdotted.
Good call. Nerds definitely aren't interested in video games. All we do is play chess, do calculus in our heads, and argue the merits of Kirk as the original captain.
Guitar Hero: Clear Channel Top 40 edition?
Guitar Hero 2 has the best set list of all the games so far... by a long shot.
Peace sells, but who's buying?
For the first man/woman who posts the list... Blasted Websense!!!
Honestly, I'm not sure which 14 songs people weren't aware of. The full set list has been available for some time on joystiq, kotaku, and gamefaqs.com, along with hundreds of other sites.
I find it hilarious that they put Sabotage on the list. Give the guitar part a good listen sometime--all it is is nonstop heavily distorted muted eighth notes (with a handful of unmuted hits in there). Nearly the entire "melody" is the bass.
This guy's the limit!
Not true. It is plainly clear that Picard is superior.
Third outing on a "guitar rock gods" package, and still no John Petrucci, wtf? Not buying it until they give me some Metropolis action.
Multiplayer Gaming (defined): Sitting around, discussing single-player games with my friends, at the bar.
We got some Fucking SLAYER!!!!!
Xenon, where's my money? -Borno
Oh wow my girlfriend's favorite song, "Slow Ride" as made famous by FogHat, is the first song listed and in Tier 1. I can do Tier 1 songs in sleep!
Looks like I'll be rocking out to GHIII in my underwear while wooing my girl at the same time. ^_^

I wonder if everyone realizes Harmonix outsourced the development of Guitar Hero III to free up time for them to create Rock Band.
I thought I had read earlier that it was pretty certain that one of their songs from their new self-titled album was going to be on that list with "It Doesn't Seem To Matter" as a prime candidate. This was back a few months after the release of their new album. So what happened? With Army of Anyone, there was a disappointing amount of sales, and now there's rumors of a break-up as Richard Patrick is going to work on his new Filter album. So does album sales drive what goes into the game and what doesn't? The album rocks. The songs rock. So what gives? Army of Anyone has the Deleo brothers from STP + Richard Patrick from Filter FYI.
track listings for GH3, after having played the demo I feel sad. :(
GH3 just doesn't 'feel right'. I'd have been quite happy if Neversoft had just picked up Harmonix's GH2 code and swapped out the tracks - but they didn't
Think I may hang on for Rock Band (although I'm never going to get all the kit as the gf already takes the piss enough of me, a grown man, with my little Fisher Price-stylee guitar)
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
The only song in the Guitar Hero series worth writing about.
GH3: Coming out for the most popular current console (Wii).
Rock Band: Not. (At least not any time soon.)
Well, guess I know which one I'm getting.
However great Harmonix is, they completely missed the boat there -- music games like this are certain to appeal to Wii gamers more than others.
In any case, looks like a pretty good track list. I'm just hoping they get their shit together as far as downloadable content for the Wii, so I can play some of the songs from the older games. (And better pricing than what the 360 GH2 had would be nice; that was a bit ridiculous.)
Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.
...argue the merits of Kirk as the original captain. As Archer came before Kirk in the ST timeline, he'd be the original captain, unless ya count Cochrane...
What's to argue? ;)
Don't tell me to get a life. I'm a gamer; I have LOTS of lives!
I don't need a set list to know how to ROCK!
/dons the Foreigner belt
Christopher Pike was the original Captain, Kirk was second
*Notes what he just wrote, and what it implies about his social life...*
There are two kinds of fool One says 'This is old therefore good' Another says 'This is new therefore better'- Dean Ing
Actually, the first was Robert April. The second was Chris Pike, then Kirk was second.
Casual games are defined by the type of game rather than the price. The type of people that the Wii attracts, fits right in with are largely the same demographic that would buy a Guitar Hero, DDR, or Karaoke game.
Seriously, you can get a decent guitar from a pawn broker from $100, then all you need to do is visit http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/ and find the tab to your favorite song and literally be ACTUALLY playing it in minutes. All you need to do is start out with the Major and Minor scales, then the rest comes naturally and you will be actually be rocking and will be able to impress the ladies.
Bah, what good is that measured against a true intellectual genius of a less and less violent age?

That's only if you count the animated series as canon.

All young people should play "Holiday in Cambodia" over and over and over again. Bonus: Jello Biafra is also an outspoken critic of DRM, abusive copyright laws and other idiotic ideas. Punk will save your sole. =)
Great music can make a great game immortal. It's like having music giants Brand Nubian and Cypress Hill (among others) in GTA:SA.
