I'm surprised that the summary didn't mention that it was partnering with Ubuntu Linux. There's a link to it on the main window (but you can't see the screenshot because it's Slashdotted at the moment).
My guess is that he didn't set a hard drive setting in the BIOS to LBA instead of Auto.
He didn't say what the error was, but it's probably Grub error 17.
You fill in the circle and feed it into the machine.
The only problem I can think of is if you don't fill in the circle completely (or if you can't stay within the lines) and the machine doesn't count your vote.
I'm going to use small words here, because it astonishes me that more of the Slashdot crowd does not get this. Labor is just like anything else, a commodity.
I use the save button as a super undo, don't throw it away.
You and 65% of America. But really, we have better methods for that. Like versioning systems. Developers used them for years, and a file system should support them natively.
Well... the rate of spam would be drastically reduced since the zombies would have to spend lots of computational time calculating hashcash, or the spam is shunted immediately to the disposal section.
It isn't talking about money at all -- only computation.
The only extra money you would spend is on your electric bill since your CPU load will be higher.
Besides, you wouldn't need to stamp since you're on their whitelist.;)
Nitpick time:
MyUID is giving out three Gmail invitations to ITS users. Not "it's."

Pacific Daylight Time is GMT minus six.

Come on people, it's "its," not "it's."
There should be Linux support within 30 days of the release. It's in the article.
(I only know that because Firefox told me)
anti-spyware companies start suing Microsoft for taking away their business after MS squeezes them out?

O Canada!
Terre de nos aïeux,
Ton front est ceint de fleurons glorieux!
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
Et ta valeur, de foi trempée,
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
Protégera nos foyers et nos droits.
That doesn't work. There's lots of Americans living abroad who will be voting in this election.
The only problem I can think of is if you don't fill in the circle completely (or if you can't stay within the lines) and the machine doesn't count your vote.
I was surprised (pleasantly) to see a segment on our news in Ottawa, Canada about it.
They mentioned that the machines would avoid the hanging chads, and then went on to list every possible negative issue.

Uhhh... what's a commodity?Um, Asterix is the comic where he drinks the potions to get super strength and beat back the Romans.
Asterisk is the PBX.Instead of the Caldera one? This is nothing but a big joke.

I don't know the actual specs, I'm just wondering.

Without editing files and getting complicated? 95/98/Me/2000/XP/NT 4
Shouldn't that be "Uh, Microsoft Word?"
Maybe your buying a PC has made your intelligence "equivalent" to ours. PC guy
It's an error.
There's a difference.
