Agreed to an extent. If in fact books were the best money maker in the store, then why did best buy destroy that section? They cut book inventory by 75% of what it was originally. We had almost everything in stock. That Changed into "sorry we don't carry that item."
They had managers and sales associates that knew they're departments and fired them ( at least at my store ) because they refused to push customers to buy those silly replay cards and other promotions. These employees were replaced by people with far less knowledge about the products they sold and frankly didn't really care about the customer.
They changed the dress code to a far more stringent attire and just simply sucked the personality out of its employees.
Sure Media Play may have been in rough shape, but the customers that shopped there always commented on our great and friendly customer service. Best Buy took care of that mighty quick.
Best Buy did the same thing with The Musicland Group (Media Play, Sam Goodie etc..) Media Play was one of the best jobs i ever had. Everyone got along, corporate realized that every store location served different demographics and let the stores cater to those needs. Then Comes best buy with their one size fits all mantra.
All of the sudden all employees have to sell so many "replay cards" a month or risk termination. They sucked to fun out of that place in less then a year. Next thing you know MusicLand is out of business.
I hate Best Buy.
I read that thread. And while I won't argue that those individuals are not having problems, I'd like to point out that many people including myself have had no problems with that or any recent updates, including 10.4.9.
In fact, the wireless on my Macbook pro has improved very much since i got it a few months ago.
The problem is (and they don't mention it in the article) is that all the power from these upstate NY windfarm is going to the black hole called New York City along with most of our tax dollars. Not one drop is ever going to these communities.
We have the same problem in western new york with Niagara Falls. We don't see any of the power savings. In fact I believe we have some of the highest electric bills in the country.
While some of your comments make sense. Some dont. We run three pri's and get them at a very good price. did's are cheap as hell. Unity integrated just fine with Lotus Domino which is what i said in my original post. Deployment took as long due to manually unpackeging the phones and bringing then to the physical locations spread out over 8 facilities. I have never had a problem with TAC. they are very responsive.
The more i think about it, maybe your post is flaimbait?
It may be a closed Sysytem and piss off a few slashdotter, but Callmanager is a great system. Callmanager express is resonably priced. Its flexable, scaleable and overall works very well. We Just deployed aroung 500 phones using two call manager servers and a single unity messaging server integrated with our lotus domino system. Total time from equipment delivery to deployment was 4 months with 4 people.
Im not sure if the imaging server comes with zenworks for windows, but we use it with our novell servers and it works very well. It uses a tftp server to netboot a linux kernel. Very scriptable and flexable. Not sure about price though.
If your going to quote numbers, perhaps you should at least try to get them right. last time I checked OS X cost 129 for a single license. If you are a teacher or education staff, knock that down to 69.00.

Ok then What happens when someone deletes all your files. RAID isnt gonna help you out there. A Back Will. RAID is for data availability. IT can be used as a mediuem for rotated backsups but by itself. it is not a backup.
Umm yeah Netware isn't filtering your internet. Bess, Smartfilter, Websense or the like is.
I work in a school and we use bess to filter our internet and for very good reasons. To keep the spyware, viri off the windows machines, to keep the elementary school kids from accidentaly getting to pRon sites, etc.. I dont really care what you kids do with your home computers, but at school you dont need to get to everything. Sorry.
Employer forget that there are people out there who already know how to be a sysadmin. Instead they throw whoever is around in the position. I'm sure your a good programer, but whats gonna happen when there is a problem that you can't fix?
You should remind your boss that sysadmin is an actuall profession that many of us are very skilled in.
So Should i go buy a gun and shoot several people just to prove that i can do it? Sorry But just because you can do something doesn't mean you always should.
s it not mildly possible that, rather than Red-Blooded, uber-aggressive, and possibly even slightly overconfident Americans are not the source of this phenomena

we use them to cover the out side of out buildings. coupled with the correct airport they should go a couple of miles line of sight.
I'd rather use OS X for my daily computing. So your scenario does not work for me, nor for many others.
