All the benchmarks I have seen for win2k show that it is faster. See the July 2000 issue of PC Magazine, page 68 for a good comparison of Thin Clients (AKA terminals).
Hey man, i dont use linux and i never will. (Or at least not until its as easy as DOS) But i know id be moderated to -999 if i said linux to windows increaces uptime so i put it the other way around. MS rules!
Your probably looking in the Home users section. They only have them as large buissness (sp?) workstations. here. Interesting how they seperate them as Mid-sized-desktop/Mini-tower and RedHat Linux. I would presume the RedHat boxes come as Mid-sized-desktops/Mini-towers.
Ok, to take this one step further (farther?) you didnt write your source code. All you did was press some keys on a board, which sent an electric signal down a cord, which the computer then translated into characters. Now if you have used a DVORK (sp?) keyboard and pressed the same keys, it would come out completely different (and not compile properly, but thats beside the point). Oh, wow, I'm mumbleing (sp?) now, I'll shut up.
As im sure some people have already noted, the G4 isnt a 128 but CPU. The velocity engine [aka AltiVec] (which i believe is a seperate chip on the mobo near the cpu) is 128 bit. Also, can anyone point me to some unbiased benchmarks for P3Xeon vs G4? (about the same system price)
"less than one-half of 1 percent of its 67 million users" are affected (as if up to 670,000 customers didn't matter)
Maybe you shouldnt be complaining about Microsoft if you cant get _your_ math right. One percent of 67 million is 670 thousand, one half of one percent of 67 million is 335 thousand. And that's not many when you consider that Napster removed that many accounts from a _much_ smaller userbase.
[sarcasm]A terraflop? Wow, a couple of years ago I remembered hearing about a supercomputer that could barely do 5 terraflops. So i guess there should be couple G4 multi-proc systems on the Top500 list. Oh, wait, no, your just an idiot mac user who is slave to apple and cant get his flop-ratings right [/sarcasm]
I know im going to lose lots of karma for this, but this guy deserves it!
M$ knows that if they go directally to the supreme the process will go much quicker and thye will be split up sooner. However, by staying in the appeals court for a while they can avoid being split up. Smart move beating the gov't to the punch.
Its much faster, but traceroute shows a dramatic slowdown (76ms to 234ms) between bb2-se1-0-0.mae-e.nap.home.net (my ISP) and mae-east2.dn.net (Exchange Point Blocks)... wonder if they got like a single ISDN there...
Heres the list of what they want within the next 25 years:
- Global Information Management System - Sanctuary Base - Global Surveillance, Reconnaissance, and Targeting System - Global Area Strike System - Uninhabited Combat Air Vehicle - Space High Energy Laser - Solar High Energy Laser - Reconnaissance Unmanned Air Vehicle - Attack Microbots - Piloted Single Stage Space Plane
Things like a "Solar High Energy Laser" could be very scary, what are they going to do with it, blow up the sun?
My high school recently recieved a $600k (USD) grant and used it in the most moronic ways. We have 2 Novell 5 servers with dual hot-swap 18 GB SCSI HDD's, more ram than i cant count, and its a pain in the ass to use. All our sysops dont know fuck about novell because they have been using MacOS all along... Its like hell ever day... teachers screaming (and crying sometimes) becase the network ate their stuff, when actually they didnt login properly.. NT would be soooooooooo much easier and im trying to convert them... /rant
Remember the G4 (a _complete_ load of BS) is considered a supercomputer (according to apple which is also BS) because it can go 1 GFLOP. I think in the Top500 SC lists, not one of them was below a TFLOP.

Jelous is the only spelling mistake I see and I even put "(sp?)" after it to signify that I was unsure of the spelling.

Ummm... check your sight again... it says 27-Apr-2010 (ie: ten years minus two months from now)

I think so Brain, but if I do switch from Windows to Linux, will I have more uptime?

Also funny how the price difference is 800USD...

IANAL but i think that because they got the appeals court to hear their case, judge jackson can send them directly to the supreme court.

<sarcasm>1000 Gig microdrive?? where, where? I want a terabyte (yeah, yeah, I know its only 0.9765625 TB) that the size of a matchbook!</sarcasm>
Oh wait, you just made a typo. Darn, that would be really cool if it existed. Just wait another few years...
And yes, I know I've made some very similar posts to this one everytime someone makes a typo.

Just a small note from a first year latin student. vir (pronounced WEE-r) is the latin word for man.

One minor note from a first year latin student. You decline nouns and conjugate verbs.

I dont know what they IPO'd for but they are up 94,168% over the last ten years... figure they IPO'd for $25, now it would be $23.5K, thats _sweet_
