Good points. But where I failed to include several Google domains, I did notice the Yahoo search subdomains other than search.yahoo.com (e.g. imagesearch.yahoo.com; websearch.yahoo.com)
Oh, I'm very scared. For the record, I'm Nick Douglas, douglasnw1@gcc.edu, AIM Decaf Silicon, phone number (724) 458-2915, address:
GCC #1534
200 Campus Dr.
Grove City, PA 16127.
And I download copyrighted music, share copyrighted music, and burn copyrighted music from CDs borrowed from the library.
I also jaywalk, speed, and occasionally drink alcohol underage. I've bought cigarettes for a minor. And since I'd get a $10 refund for two hours of paperwork, I won't do my taxes this year.
That's not the issue; it's my college's crappy server and proxy system, as well as their Microsoft Exchange mail server, which apparently supports nothing but Outlook -- not even Outlook Express.
It's Grove City College, if anyone wants to extend the hate.
And the College blocks HTTP Tunnel, which was my only way to get Kazaa. Now I rely on friends subscribing to Easynews.
As my friend and schoolmate Peter Swift (fjordboy) can tell you, we have a thriving p2p network within the campus, running at 10 and, in certain cases, 90 Mbps.
Whenever a niche market becomes mainstream, it creates new niche markets. E.g., the Internet developer demographic, a niche market, is now a mainstream market with niches like Slashdotters, bloggers, and webcam owners.
Lessig loves creative use of the Creative Commons license, so he probably enjoyed the Fluffy Kittens remix of Alice in Wonderland, Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, and Eastern Standard Tribe. These derivative works were made with Doctorow's permission.
I'm still a college student, and my college, Grove City College, only releases textbook lists days before classes begin. This makes it impossible to mail-order books quickly enough; by the time they arrive, three assignments are past due.
Students have complained, and God knows why the college hasn't fixed their policy. They're normally so wise with money, and they don't overcharge for anything else (except the food, which they should pay us to eat).
Geez, why didn't my better summary make it in? Because I forgot to add a "Microsoft products suck" line and left that for the reader to assume from the clear evidence of MS posting "Don't click on hyperlinks"?
Damn it, I knew someone would be rational, and then the mods would say "Oh yeah, I knew that" and mod me back down...now I'll have to come up with one-liners that also make sense...such pressure!
Now that a new Windows vulnerability was discovered, virus writers know how to hide an EXE as a TXT.
Put the virus checker on the server, not on the user. It's not foolproof, but it helps.
Darth: "I am your father."
Linus: "Hell no, you're just a desperate old fart who's jealous of my DNA and wants to take some credit for it."
Darth: "Shit."
After all, it doesn't target Mac users either, and the new anti-Microsoft.com DOS attack of MyDoom.B would fit the intentions of a Mac activist. But I haven't seen anyone accuse Mac users. All the evidence is circumstantial.
Except-
The SCO DOS attack (geez, the TLAs are bumping and grinding today) suggests the pro-Linux link. Does any other faction have a beef with Darl?

But under 10% of Yahoo's traffic goes to their search sections: Again, Alexa.
You mean this space elevator?

I use Windows (network issues force me to) and fantasize about Linux. Can I get, like, subpoenaed?

Go to ratemyprofessor.com for the same type of service. I use it for picking classes.
And thus I'll never get Technoratied.
I don't know, but the digerati turned down my inferior post on the same news item.
I can tell you that by the end, my thumbs will be sore. (Say no more, say no more, say no more, squire!)
I'll still suck like a cheap whore.
Lessig and Doctorow both work for the Electronic Frontier Foundation. They're two of my heroes.

This week, Half.com ran an ad in my college's paper (the creatively named "Collegian") advertising its low textbook rates.

If you thought Pixar was good, think of how classy they'll be without the Mouse!
And a towel.

Wait, so a parody is okay...unless it's such a clever parody that it makes you money?
Wait, when we push it, it puts me in Windows...so I'm still associating bad things here.
Crap, I think Darl patented it.
