I think you should have emphasized that smoking is beneficial only to UC patients. Not for any other disease. The mechanism involves some enzyme in the liver that reduces the inflamation in the colon, only in UC patient.
I know, because I volunteered to a research concerning this phenomena, and I got a very lite case of UC myself.
Lunarpages wants to clarify some confusion regarding current exploits involving PHP and PHPbb.
Recently we emailed all customers notifying them to make sure to upgrade their PHPbb (a third party application bulletin board) to the latest version as there are known, serious exploits on any version lower that 2.0.11. This must be done. We are seeing many customers who are having problems with their boards getting hacked because they have not upgraded. Please see the following articles for more information on this: http://www.kaspersky.com/news?id=156681162 or http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=248811& highlight=worm.
Also, there is a known exploit in PHP itself (the programming language). Lunarpages is diligently working to upgrade all servers to the latest version of PHP and Zend Optimizer. We are upgrading to PHP version 4.3.10 and Zend Optimizer to version 2.5.7. These are completely separate issues. Just upgrading PHP on the servers to the current version will not fix exploits in PHPbb. We have yet to see any serious issues regarding the PHP exploit however; we will still ensure we have the latest, most secure version available.
PHPbb boards running versions less than 2.0.11 must be upgraded. It is imperative that this email is not ignored and that all customers who run a PHPbb board upgrade immediately to protect the integrity of their site.
Please note that it is your responsibility to keep current backups of your site and that you should always back up your site before any major change. Lunarpages can supply a backup to you. However, restoring a site is charged at $75.00 per hour. To get a quote for this or for questions or concerns regarding this email, please contact support@lunarpages.com.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
I might be wrong, but IIRC there is a desease called Multiple Sceleroses in which the effected person's immune systems attacks its own links in the brain... I think the immune system is active in the brain, but normal blood cells don't pass the blood-brain barrier.
But again, I might be wrong either.
Buddy, it can be done even today with 8bit MCUs. Heck, I'm building one just now with an 8bit MCU from ATMEL which has much less features than this 32bit MCU. It's working - I can call from my mobile to the device and it'll turn on and off my bioler using 433MHz RF link.
You missed the point entirely.
Valuable programmers don't just sit down and code specs, there are planty of people who are willing to do just that.
Good programmers are people who can design and solve problems out of their cubicle's boundries.
This guy is not insane, he's just an idiot probably. Thinking of posting this on slashdot...
The guy who is REALLY insane is the editor who allowed this to be on slashdot front page.

You underestimate the other biological and psychological effects of doing sports - like better metabolism, which I don't think a nanopill can improve systematicly, and just the good feeling of doing sports, which in turn have biochemical reasons. You want to feel better without the sports? Well I guess you'll find a pill for this too...
I think you didn't understand correctly what he said...
As far as I know the technique is to "inject" a gene to a bacteria with a virus that attacks the bacteria. The gene that was injected by the virus gives antibiotic resistance.
Now you can filter out the non-injected bacteria with antibiotics and work with only the modified bacteria for whatever you want to do with it.
RTFA, The mentioned laser is GREEN not INFRARED.
And I believe some of it will be reflected from the particles in the atmosphere.
Anyway, anyone figured out why are they doing this? What is the purpose of this experiment?
Not related, though

I think you better take a look at this: http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/gif/mea-orbit-big.gif
Imagine people start talking to their "neighbours" during drive, instead of just signalig them :)
Could be fun
Hear hear!
you had just defined windows as a virus.
Painful?! It's god given gift to almost any amatuer electronics hobbyist.
I wish I could swear in chinese...
Why?! Isn't two-dimensional chess good enough so you try to destroy it with some trekie version?
Heck, that'll make a great quote... btw, a corollary - "a computer almost never do what you want it to do, but always do what you tell it to do"

On BN it's $32, on Amazon it's lower - about $26.
Grrr... I'm sure I read it on slashdot before. Why can't I find it?
Old story...

fuck, i looked at your sig and the first thing that came to my mind are bra and ket vectors.
oh well, maybe quantum theory is the l33t speak of physicsts.
now back to quantum theory exercises...
