    Lying to a law enforcement officer is always illegal. They may or may not care about why you engaged in the activities you did but lying about it is clearly a crime in our justice system. Realistically it cannot be otherwise if you wish to have effective investigations of crimes.

    If they wanted to have effective investigation of crimes, they should not have made talking to the cops a terribly risky endeavor.

    Sounds like a problem with search engines. They should push sites carrying malware down the rankings, or off the list entirely. Has anyone reported Sourceforge to Google and other malware site list maintainers?

    Yeah, and I changed my sig in case other people are too lazy to look up where to do said reporting.

    that robot will work 24/7/365, it never calls in sick, it never asks for a raise, and it doesn't complain about working conditions.

    Bah, you should upgrade to internet connected robots. That way they can call in when malfunctioning, or when their working conditions are inefficient.

    Yes, if they did it once are you really going to risk them doing it again? I updated my sig to link to Google's "report malware sites" page. If they take a big enough hit, maybe next time a greedy bastard buys a useful website, they might keep it useful for fear of the backlash no matter how tempted they are to make a quick buck at their users' expense.

    Should have done this ages ago, when they started serving crapware disguised as a download button.
