There you go again; making assumptions and broad generalizations about something that you obviously don't know much about. You're almost as bad as that blog post.
"It's when patents are used to gain an advantage in ANY way that pisses me off."
Patents aren't made to to "gain advantages" they are made to keep people from stealing advantages that the inventor has already created.
If an inventor spends his time and hard-earned money making something new, why should he not benefit from it? Better yet, why would he invent it if he couldn't benefit from it.
Actually, I am not a fan of ID, but that doesn't mean that if one is going to bash it one doesn't need a valid arguement. The article and the comments treat evolution as if it is set-in-stone fact, which it is not. I do believe it was most likely what happened, but it has not been proven. It is still a THEORY.
The author also treats the idea of even mentioning ID as if it will set us back into the Dark Ages. This is so absurd it's funny. People have been taught ID (inside and outside of school) for longer than can be counted. We still reached this point despite (or maybe because of) these teachings.
All this blog is doing is bashing anyone with different opinions from the author; that is what I oppose. I may not agree with everyone, but I at least feel that they should be able to express their opinions without being baselessly attacked. If you have a good counter-argument, then present it and show the other guy to be wrong. But, if you have nothing to show them to be wrong, or no good arguments with which to counter theirs, then keep your god-damned mouth shut!!
That [blog] post is so-fucking-retarded. It is full of a bunch of conjecture, assumptions, and misinformation. Why don't you link to something with some actual information or maybe even a valid arguement?
1. "religious extremists" Not all religious people are extremists. Some are very normal and live everywhere. Chances are that you have an "extremist" living next door to you. (FYI, I am not religous)
2. I was born in raised in Kansas, and they have not "thrashed" science education in any way. They did NOT ban teaching the theory of evolution. Here is a quote from the often debated standard: "As a result of their activities in grades 9-12, all students should develop an understanding of... biological evolution..." (p. 79). They in fact said that students should know about evolution, but they just decided that the students would not be tested over it. (http://www.ksde.org/outcomes/science_stds2001.pdf [ksde.org]) See page 12 or 47 (quote on page 74).

"The USA does have an advantage over those countries in that it does not let the children leave at 16."
Since when does 'the USA' have anything to say about this?? In my STATE no child is forced to stay in school after 16 (at least it was, may have recently been raised to 17).
"However, the point is that while science will always adjust itself if the evidence warrants it*, religion never does."
Yeah, because we are still sacrificing animals as Abraham did. Or the (Catholic) church is still granting indulgences. Or the fact that there is still one church. I mean, seriously, who ever heard of that crazy make-believe story about a "Reformation." And, you don't think Jesus's or Mohammed's arrival (if it happened) changed religion? I would consider myself agnostic, but I can still look at the FACTS and conclude that religion does and has changed based on new things brought to light. They may not be "facts" as you put it, but can one really come up with facts that necesitate a religion changing?
The answer is yes, it has happend, and will continue to happen.
In common usage any gas with an unpronounceable name used for refrigeration is referred to as freon.
According to one source:
"Freon - any one of a special class of chemical compounds that are used as refrigerants, aerosol propellants, and solvents. These compounds are haloalkanes, i.e., halogen derivatives of saturated hydrocarbons (see alkane). Every Freon contains at least some fluorine in its molecule, and most contain chlorine or bromine as well. Freons are generally colorless, odorless, nontoxic, noncorrosive, nonflammable, and chemically unreactive."
Wiki lists R-134a as a Haloalkane, which would match this definition as well.
All cars with A/C still use freon. They don't use R-12!! (which is the stuff that supposidely depletes the ozone, and has been illegal since about model year 1995, NOT the late '90s)
Plus, what if the person can't use the last two days of the pass, noone will use it. Do you realize how much they will lose in concessions and souveneirs by not letting someone else take that ticket?
Yeah, but if someone buys a 5 day ticket, why shouldn't they be allowed to use it 2 days and let a friend have it the other 3? As far as Disney is concerned, the same number of man-days has been spent in the park as was paid for. If you go to 7-11 and buy a drink that includes 1 "free" refill, then the cost is built into the original drink and it shouldn't matter if you pass the cup onto your friend for the second glass. 7-11 is still selling 2 drinks, and there are still 2 drinks being enjoyed by someone.
Nowhere have I heard that it will definately come with a HDD. I know it will be detachable, and have heard that it (or possibly a budget version released later) will not come with one (to save costs).
"They were forced to send all their passengers data to the government. The airlines denied it. Then it came out as true. Then the airlines admitied it."
"The system is designed to stop people from using tickets that they didn't pay for."
Let's reword that, it's designed to stop people from using tickets that people (albeit different people) DID PAY FOR. A ticket is a ticket, why should Disney care who bought it.
Yeah? Really? Do you have any evidence of this? I propose that you have no more evidence than the people who support ID.
There you go again; making assumptions and broad generalizations about something that you obviously don't know much about. You're almost as bad as that blog post.
Or, you could buy an old Turbo Diesal that already gets better gas mileage.

This was your claim: "Sony said this already with the PS2 before its release."
I still see no evidence for it.
Do you have a link with a quote to show that they made the 10-year claim with the PS2??

Is it painful to be so ignorent? I would imagine it would be kind of blissfull....
"Einstein won a Nobel Peace Prize for solving one of them"
That's funny; I can't seem to find him anywhere on the official list of Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Maybe you should have a look: http://nobelprize.org/peace/laureates/index.html

HAHAHAHA..... sure it is...

That's just stupid. A BB won't leave nearly the bruise that a paintball will.
Paintballs are a lot more dangerous than a lot of BB guns.
