We have to log in through the network and the computer I work on litterly takes about 25 - 45 minutes before it is in a useable state. Obviously something is wrong here. It all started slowing down when they upgraded to office 2007.
If I right click on an icon or on the desktop, it litterly takes about 6 seconds to load the menu, sometimes longer. I'm sorry, but back in 96 my computer was way more responsive than this. I can't believe where computer are in 2008. Its absolutly terrible in my opinion.
Why can't they just show a picture of a red apple and ask a question like: "What color is the apple" or something like that? Show a picture of 2 people and ask which one is a male or which one is taller or smaller or fatter etc.
I guess eventually those types of things will just bust as well.
If the universe expanded at the speed of light, but expanding like a bubble in all directions. If one object is moving away from the middle eastward and the other is moving westward...then would they be moving apart at twice the speed of light?
I always wondered this. So it would be possible that we can't see beyond where light has reached because of this.
I wonder what the percentage of people over 65 is compared to the people who are under 65?
And then compare that percentage to 60 or 80 years ago. Shouldn't the working class be exponentially larger than the retired?
My brother got stabbed in the spinal cord leaving him paralised from the chest down for life. He gets about $800 / month. Took him 2 years to get on section 8.
His life style is terrible compared to what I have, but he can definitly live on $800/month.
I make about 60K a year and can hardley pay my bills....talk about over spending!!! But when it comes down to it, i'll gladely move to a smaller house and a crappier car to feed my kid and myself. I can always down grade.
We should stop paying the fakes who claim a broken pinky in boot camp and get paid $300 a month for it and starting paying people who really need it....like the guy who blew off his leg.
Their is a guy in my shop that never uses google or the address bar. He actually goes up to File->open and proceeds to type the URL into that box. I watched him do this for 4 or 5 different web pages and couldn't believe my eyes. Amazing that you can use a computer EVERY DAY at work and not know how to use the addres bar.
You are right, they won't quit. They will just stop doing anything. Their mentaltiy would be "If i'm getting paid like a bum, then I'm going to work like one." The sad part is when they get paid well, they still work like a bum.

I work on equipment that is 30 years old and I find 100's of bugs in the software still. I find software that does not even come close to meeting the hardware specs. I find software tha is asking for more accuracy than the physical device can even achieve. We are 10 years behind because we can afford to pay all these people to maintain such crap.
The longest amount of time I've ever kept a video is because I kept the original tape. No DVD, or hard drive has ever outlasted a tape FOR ME.
I think you should put all your video onto the computer hard drive. Edit it the way you want, then find one mini-dv tape and transfer all the video back to that tape. Then store the tape.
I had a problem getting my mail when I first moved into my house as well. Zip code changed for that area. Then I had a problem getting internet service. They claimed they didn't offer it in my area even though both neighbors on both sides of me were getting it.
I never got the right mail. I got no mail most of the time. MY mail was going to the city next to me.
Finally got the mailing thing figured out.
Now I have someone parkign next to my mailbox everyday (While I'm at work). The mailman sends me a notice saying that they will not deliver mail because the mailbox is blocked.
I told them "How can I make sure nobody parks on the street while i'm at work?" They said I would have to file a complaint.
What ever happened to the days when mail persons would actually get out of the car and deliver the mail?

I keep telling them they just need to click on the Blue "I" or "E" I forget what it is because I've been using firefox so long and do not even have the icon showing.
I prefer a touch screen with a stylus. Sometimes it is hard to text like while driving, but you shouldn't do that anyways. But I find it much less stress full to just write with a pen than click buttons numerous times just to have your T9 mode tell me that I can't use the word "Fuck"
Google should not have to pay anything to them. UTube should buy a new domain name called UniversalTubes.com . YouTube and UTube are two different things. When UTube bought the domain name, the rules were the same. I bought http://www.whatsapro.com/ , I know that someone can easily buy whatapro.com or whatsapros.com . I know this ahead of time and If I cared, i would just buy those names too.
His keyboard Idea sounds pretty cool. I would like to see some more practical applications than what he showed. Games would be cool with this interface. I think the idea is great, moving objects on your screen as if they were actually on your desk. But gestures will still need to be learned.
Also, we would all get neck problems from staring down all the time at the screen rather than looking straight ahead.
All in all, this technology seems very interesting.

Every piece of data that goes "higher" up, is definately skewed to show the "right" numbers. Absolutely nothing that gets sent up is actuall data. But let them keep spending millions trying to track it. When they find faults, they will yell at the people "below" and tell them to fix the problem. Well, now the people below will "fix" the numbers for the higher up guys. Wow, great ideas.

In college, you do what you have to to get an "A"...if the prof doesn't allow laptops, then get on his or her good side and don't bring your laptop to that class.

The automatic breaking system may seem scary when your actually paying attention to the road, which in that matter, you will break on your own anyways.....But I couldn't tell you how many times I was searching for something on the floor and crept up on someone faster than I wanted. This breaking system would work great for me. Or how about the days when you are very very tired after a long days work and your at a dead stop, then the light turns green and you assume that the driver ahead of you is going to accelerate but doesn't. This breaking system should save a lot of low speed crashes.
