The soft tissue inside could then be preserved, for there would be very little capable of breaking it down to is basic chemical components.

But again, I am hardly a paleontologist, and so this is but a layman's theory.

Needless to say, I put the book down, returned it to the library, and only later heard about who Hubbard was. (I was about thirteen at the time.)

I think I'm going to be staying away from Scientology and its followers for as long as possible.

Presumably, it was either the shape of the carton's interface, the size of the carton, or the ink in the carton that caused the printer to break; otherwise I doubt the tech looking at the printer will be interested in the cartridges or their bays.

If it's the shape of the interface, simply looking at how the printer-side of the carton interface is damaged should reveal that you used a 3rd party carton. If it's the size of the carton... well, the ink carton bays will be broken, and that will be an obvious indication that you put something other than the manufacturer's carton in there--which means that the damage is your fault. If it's the ink in the carton that caused the printer to break, it's likely a different composition or mixture that caused this. In that case, the tech would look at the ink residue to see if it has a different look or feel to it (or feeds it into a sensor to see if something's off). In this case, a Quality Control manager would probably make sure your printer is kept at the repair center until he or she can verify that the batch those ink cartons came from was not bad (unless the chemical signature or appearance/feel is way off, in which case they know that you used a bad 3rd party carton); once it's verified that said batch was not bad, they know that the problem was not a manufacturer's defect, and therefore not covered under warranty.

A tiny bit of investigation is all it takes; whether Lexmark would put effort into such investigation, I don't know. For all I know they'd say, "It's broken, you say? We'll send you a new one," or something to that effect.

  11. Brief Opinion on Review: Halo 2 And The MagicBox XFPS · · Score: 1

I was disappointed with Halo 2's story, the first time through. I felt it needed to be longer and deeper than it was. After playing through a few times, though, my opinion of the story is simply that it ended too soon; I'll leave it up to Bungie to explain or not explain why that was.

My seasoned opinion of the Halo series as a whole is that, like college, what you get out of it depends on how much you put into it. If you only once play through each of the Halo's story modes, and on the Easy difficulty setting, you may not be much impressed, especially if you were expecting the Shakespeare of first-person shooters. The way some people buy into every ounce of hype for a product, I can understand the disappointment with and anger at the Halo series.

On the other hand, if you play through Halo a few times, preferably on Legendary difficulty and with a friend in co-op. mode, and then Halo 2 on Heroic a few times, you have a basis for beginning to understand and appreciate the story a bit more. Add in the ILB story (which turned out not to be canon) and the books, and one can really start to appreciate the Halo story. For a final touch, look into the Halo story speculation and witness things being discussed that you may not have noticed.

As for multiplayer... well, it's good in both. I have had my complaints in each, but the quality of the experience usually boils down to who (or whom) you play with, as I believe it should. Take some time to learn the maps and weapons, and judge not by appearances, and the things which cause complaint are often quickly forgotten in the heat of battle.

If the reason(s) you hold for stopping immigration are good, they should apply to all illegal immigrants. If this is the case, you need to look at why those immigrants are coming, at risk of deportation, imprisonment and, in some cases, death. Then you need to start addressing that problem.

In the past, the primary motivating factor for most immigrants to the US was economic; if this has held true, then the best way to "stem the tide" of immigration--both legal and otherwise--is to economically invest in these other countries. Start companies, build factories, give low-interest loans... any sort of investment along those lines would help both them and you.

The problem, of course, is that in order to save money (on healthcare), you have to spend it (on investment), first. The good news is that, given the relative economies of the world, this shouldn't be too expensive for most Americans (for we are all in this together, citizen, resident alien, and illegal immigrant alike).

As I understand it, while Geologists are rather certain that radioactive materials provide the majority of the Earth's internal heat, they are equally certain that the core consists mostly of iron. The "liquid" outer sphere of iron produces the magnetic field through its motion.

As for the study itself: Wouldn't the Earth's own magnetic field interfere with the experiment, somehow? I saw nothing about this in the article, but I'm assuming that the Earth's magnetic field would either fail to significantly effect the results or the scientists are countering for it somehow, either in the experiment itself or in their calculations.
