Is this even legal? Obviously, these are "good" causes, but what if someone was to create a commercial product based on a google maps hack? Would that even be legal?
How many people just now looked at the longhorn screenshots for the first time? Now that Microsoft doesn't want you to see them, doesn't it make you want to see them even more?
Last time I came back across the border in a car from Canada (with a group of Americans), our group had packed our passports in our luggage, thinking that we would not need them, since they were not required when crossing TO Canada. However, when we tried to just show the US immigration agent our driver's licenses, they made us pull over, get out our passports, and take them inside. That was over a year ago, so either that particular agent was extra strict, or this has been the policy for a while.
Well, they'll get a good 4 years from you at least. They are using the classic "golden handcuffs" style of doling them out. The stock doesn't fully vest for 4 years. Who knows whether the stock will continue to remain worth the millions that is now anyway?
Really? How did you set it up? (Which distro/window managers/applications, etc) I'd love to be able to hook up some of my relatives running Linux, but I don't spend a lot of time experimenting with different distros, and I'm not going to set them up running gentoo.
Stern went on a 10 minute rant about it this morning. Basically he said that Powell didn't deserve to be there, and was only there because of his dad (which he's said many times before). He also said that it probably wouldn't make any difference, because the Bush administration is still in power, and they will probably find someone who is just as bad or worse than Powell was about trying to enforce "indecency standards". That was followed up by calling Powell basically a two-faced liar who said that indecency should be controlled by the market, then "cowtowing" to pressure from the large conglomerate radio organizations, and allowing a few organizations to become very powerful in radio.
One of the nicest uses for this would be cheap international calling through cell phones, since a lot of phones already have unlimited nights and weekends and mobile to mobile within the US. Unfortunately, they don't seem to support that yet.
You seen to know quite a bit about CVS. We are having a problem with CVS at my work. There is a program which we have that is meant for generating HTML called RoboHelp HTML. When we generate our HTML help files, it ends up clearing all of the files (and directories) out of the generated directory and replacing them with "generated files". When it does this, it removes the important "CVS" directory that is in there, and replaces it with a copy of another "CVS" directory. It totally screws up CVS and we never seem to be able to recover it, so we end up having to use a completely different source control system for these files. Any ideas how to resolve this?

You're Watching Less TV

· Score: 2, Informative
If you're a boxing fan, you should check out HBO Boxing After Dark. It's fairly high quality boxing, decent names, etc. Comes on most Saturdays. Last weekend, they were in Little Rock, Arkansas (woo pig sooie!), and a local middleweight (Jermain Taylor) showed one of the best jabs I've ever seen. Also, ESPN Friday night fights has some decent fights sometimes.
The reason that we watch less TV is that because there is less interesting stuff for us to watch as the channels are filled up with meaningless and boring reality TV shows. What the hell do I care if the loser from Average Joe hooks up with a hot chick? It's boring! Even the so called "Man Show" sucks. So does "Spike TV". We're not completely mindless.
I imagine that a few channels' ratings have actually gone up (like Discovery channel, Comedy Central and HBO), but as a whole, the major networks are lame and boring, and definitely not providing us shows that we actually care to watch.
Actually, I hope they continue to do it it...TV's expensive anyway. Plus, it's healthier to get off your couch and go do something outside.
Dell does have direct stores, and sometimes you can take a pre-built laptop from their store.
I don't think they have any of these stores in New York, but if you travel somewhere outside of New York, maybe you can pick one up.
LOL. I got one of those for Christmas this year, but it's still sitting on my mantle. I am a beer drinker, but I considered this more of a funny conversation piece.
So what if they choose to track their inventory? You buy their product, they can track it if it they want to. If you don't like it, then don't buy it. It makes them money, and that's why they do it. This article mentions nothing of tracking purchases of other brands, it just says that they look at their product displays. I don't want an Orwellian society, but this is just smart business.
7-zip

I heard it this morning, and wrote about it here

It's very low footprint, very low frill window manager.

We generally try to use source control systems as a distribution method..Maybe that's our main problem.

Good point, but, I've seen some video games with advertisements (and product placements) in them, and there will be more.

whoops..didn't notice someone else had submitted that link.
This article confirms that statement.
Thanks, had no idea...
I'll stick in in the fridge to cool it and enjoy it as a refreshing beverage soon.

My problem seems to be somewhat of the opposite...I am a very good programmer, but have a hard time coming up with ideas.
