I believe he meant that THIS verdict is just a theatre for the media because this verdict is not acted upon until all the instances has been worked through. This was "TingsrÃtten", next is "HovrÃtten" (which is where they can appeal), and if that fails, they can apply for a ruling by "HÃgsta domstolen" (The Supreme Court), and The Supreme Court will need to get clarifications and additional comments from the European Court of Jusice (EU) which Sweden is a member of. So; this verdict is not the final outcome of this story...

I thought Microsofts latest pricedrops in Europe (when dealing with the german government for instance) would have some effect on the US as well... Did they realize OSS is "good", or is it just that they didn't see any real use for this being closed source?

As far as I know, Quake has been open source since 1999, and as far as I know, FuhQuake (opensource client derived from Quake/QuakeWorld and ZQuake) has no cheats what so ever, because they load a external security module. If you want to contribute to FuhQuake with code, you can, cause it's all open source. Its just that security module that is closed source. So what's the problem with having "all of it" open source, except the part where your "top secret security crypto" goes?
