I believe he meant that THIS verdict is just a theatre for the media because this verdict is not acted upon until all the instances has been worked through.
This was "TingsrÃtten", next is "HovrÃtten" (which is where they can appeal), and if that fails, they can apply for a ruling by "HÃgsta domstolen" (The Supreme Court), and The Supreme Court will need to get clarifications and additional comments from the European Court of Jusice (EU) which Sweden is a member of.
So; this verdict is not the final outcome of this story...
... "otherwise you get the impression that Linux is a European thing."
Well... it is.
And Asian, and African, and Australian, and American. Hell, it's even an Arctic thing.
US politics is full of hackers.
GNU's Not Unix.
WINE Is Not an Emulator...
then all these bills like HANG UP, PATRIOT Act and so on.
It seems they are named that way so that congress doesn't need to read them. "What? Of course I'm a patriot! Lets vote for it!".
Not that I disagree with the contents of "HANG UP"...
I thought Microsoft always codenamed their operating system after cities and locations to avoid getting sued over a name conflict....
Magneto.... X-Men (c) Marvel... ring any bells?
Aww, come on!
How big is the widespread use of OSS in goverment anyways?
I thought Microsofts latest pricedrops in Europe (when dealing with the german government for instance) would have some effect on the US as well...
Did they realize OSS is "good", or is it just that they didn't see any real use for this being closed source?
I remember taking a tour at the IBM Headquartes in Sweden... it was fun to see old OS2/Warp CD's being used to keep books from closing up while an engineer was reading some obscure manual in their labs:)
But we've had 10/10Mbit fiber in Sweden for about 25$ a month since 98-99, and just last year you can get 100Mbit for 60$... Bredbandsbolaget (The Broadband Company)... ADSL here is 8/1Mbit, VDSL @ 26mbit, ADSL2(+), 24/1 and just now, 100/1 (I just wonder how the ACK packets will fit in a 1Mbit upload)...
As much americans might think swedes are arctic eskimos from stoneage, we still beat you to the finish when it comes to public wide adoption of high speed internet.
Just my 0.02c of patriotism:)
SRS WOW, OGG Vorbis support and so on... I think their older model MP-300 has those functions as well, so since when did this become "the next generation" stuff? Its already here, and have been for quite a while, hasn't it?
Ehm... I remember seeing some teasers and stuff like that on the official homepage like 4-5 months ago, at least... whats so special about the release of another trailer, especially when the film itself isn't "new" as in "just announced"....
If you mod me down I will hunt you until my teeth sink into your flesh.
As far as I know, Quake has been open source since 1999, and as far as I know, FuhQuake (opensource client derived from Quake/QuakeWorld and ZQuake) has no cheats what so ever, because they load a external security module.
If you want to contribute to FuhQuake with code, you can, cause it's all open source. Its just that security module that is closed source.
So what's the problem with having "all of it" open source, except the part where your "top secret security crypto" goes?
Yeah, I'm having heaploads of problems setting up my three-monitor lineup.
It works now, but I find it very choppy without the DRI, so I truly hope it will be fixed someday...
What.. the... f*ck? Is the rest of the world watching China for guidance in this matter? What's happening? Seriously, this is just insane.

When was the last time the congress cleared a successful act that had anything to do with IT?
I'd suggest just adding .nyud.net:8090... like...

Round-robin and caches everywhere! Woho!
In Korea, only old people use Lycos antispam-screensavers.
