Wow I'm glad I post with aliases, and on items unimportant to work. I.E. I'd don't post of the illegal stuff I don't do anyway, and if its a party for work or somesuch the boss would be invited anyway. Just to be curious I did a search on my aliases. So far only Slashdot came up in a google search (rather embarrasing considering they didn't link to the blogger blog I have). So at most people will know about my tech opinions. Whop dee do! Anyone who tries to hire me right away will know about my burning hatred for Windows and Apple Machintosh. Two ways of computing that have shafted me more than should be legal.
Um you should move to Nova Scotia then. We're slowly becomming global warming's bitch. I can remember snow banks that used to be 3 or 4 feet high and that was common during winter. Now we get that only when there is a blizzard and everyone panics.
Hell I went home once looked out across the bay and realized there was no ice in the water. Not a single pack. It used to freeze over enough to skate in some places. If that isn't bad enough my grandmother told me stories about how they used to move houses across the bay when she was younger. That doesn't happen now. Global warming false my ass!
The difference being though that C compiles to machine code, and Java is interpreted bytecode. Bytecode is slower than machine code but better than pure interpretation.
Trust me from experience, run like hell, or never leave the house that day. All my current new years resolutions are to get in shape so that if my ex comes back, I'M NOT GOING TO BE A PUNCHING BAG. NEVER THE FVCK AGAIN!!!!
Why copy protect the code? I'd only have a requirement of providing a GPG key to decrypt the content of the resource files every time the game runs. Or something along those lines. The code is free, but to use the material with the engine you must provide a key.
Sigh of course with the code available cracking the games is so much easier. (Not that it's hard right now).
*awaits justifications and explanations of why this is nothing like Microsoft*
Because this was released to the public immediately, will be fixed in a matter of hours and available for patching in the same amount of time. Also this is a LOCAL exploit meaning you have to gain physical access to the machine, or trick a linux user who is usually an informed user to run something with this exploit. Using this exploit is much harder than with M$ which left gaping holes open in the past.
Like my grandmother always used to say. "They're right 80% of the time. It's just that the 20% they're wrong is what's affecting you". I personally find it ironic that we can computer simulate the entire weather for a day using Chaos theory and powerful supercomputers about a WEEK after that day has happened.
Don't ask me to cite where I got that from I remember watching it on Discovery once.
Speak for yourself! I've had a bit too much Pi in my life, and 0 calories of deserty goodness... sigh no wonder I've lost most of my drive to do stuff lately.
Yeah but if we skimp on that maintenance and pack them with high explosives, we have our own WMDs. In all seriousness most of the SeaKings are Search and Rescue, and I'd sooner take the chances on my own then have one of those flying death traps come to put the final nail in the coffin.

I don't like coop mostly because when I tried for a coop job they couldn't place me. I'm an 3.0 GPA student and unable to find work in CS. Every place I applied to turned me down.
My University also likes to spout out how many students they placed. 35/40 for the year I applied however they left out the other 40 students who got fed up with the BS and left the coop program.
Why would you move to where they are allowed to look? The CIA can't operate on US soil. But please move to Canada our Intellegence agency is much better. We don't get caught (as often as the CIA).

What's really sad is that this is the first time I heard about it. Tried to read the article couldn't make it past the first paragraph.
I also have a MySpace account. Horrible as hell to modify and I know HTML/CSS. Google's blogger templates are easier to create.

Hey! That's my OSS business model, open the source, charge like the RIAA for the content.
Waaaiiit, I really should rethink that now.
Sorry I pay enough CD taxes. The ones that allow me to make copies here in Canada are bad enough.

Sorry for that, it was meant as a joke.
Being Canadian I don't know much about Imperial, so that's 200 Deg Celcius right? Sorry but I don't want 3rd degree burns there.
It's called Half-Life...
So does this mean the next version of SpamAssassin is going to be fatal?

Open Source it! Put it on sourceforge, freshmeat, etc. Wait never mind they'd just replace the source with an autozombifier... shit.

So legalese is a resounding failure right?
Or in Andromeda I forget which Nietzschean (a Dragan I think) said this but "The enemy of my enemgy is still my enemy"
Isn't the kernel obfucated enough?
Like security, stability, and compliance with actual standards.
That's how this started...
