    Thing is, with unbalanced, asymmetrical distributions, things go screwy. For example, say we have 3 people, A, B, and C. A has a value of 1, B has a value of 2, and C has a value of 100. (1+2+100)/2 = 51.5. That means that 66% of people are worse than arithmatic mean. This is feasibly possible, because we are not polling the general population, but a certain subgroup, which generally has no computer skills ;)

    I just realized some potential usage for this. This is sorta like a projector version of NASA's Mission Control screen. Could they be invisioning a portable SAC "mobile base" in case the country is attacked and Camp David was not secure?

    1) The double-click patent was a joke. It only applies to PDAs IIRC. 2) It does? I don't recall that middle clicking opened a folder in the same window. I don't even think i does anything for that matter in Windows. Remember, the point is for the average Windows user to be able to figure out how to use it almost instantaneously (from past experience, for example) It doesn't need to be EXACTLY the same, just familiar.

    There shouldn't be such an outcry over this. People are accustomed to things such as double-clicking (OOPS, VIOLATED A PATENT) and other parts of Windows. To ease the transfer from Windows to Linux, the GNOME team should at least create an option to disable it.

    There is no way in hell that the U.S. would agree to this. America is highly dependent on encryption on a ridiculous scale. If someone wiped all of the encryption keys at the NSA, most important military traffic would die. The {CI|NS|DI}A would either cheat at it, or reject it outright.

    The thing is, it isn't an abuse when you waive your right to privacy. By signing that contract, you waive all rights you have to privacy from the company. It also takes away your right to sue, press charges, etc.

    The providers have a TOS that you sign to get service. If you sign it, you allow them to log everything you do with their network, when you turn on your phone, who you call, a recording of the call, text messages, internet access (using mMode and such), and more.
