My only complaint for the Non-Apple video players is that for 4:3 content, it is not flush with the screen, must be an API limitations. 16:9 content is flush with no conversion needed.
I used Desktop every couple of years as an alternative to windows search, and it never seemed to work quite right with multiple physical drives (and i have... many) and the results tended to not be any better than explorer. Additionally, being in a web page style results page, made file manipulation annoying.
certainly OSX is pirated, but they don't have any DRM because 1. it is cheap and 2. the DRM is technically hardware based.

in my city (Chicago) this is a "Value Added" type of service, for most of my life there was no cell reception down there, they even rolled them out one carrier at a time, I doubt they would be liable on a system that is not guaranteed to work since it is underground in a difficult place to get wireless communications.
