  1. Is the GPL GPL'd? on The GPL And Web Applications · · Score: 1

'cause if it is, then all you have to do is replace "binary distribution" with "asp/php/webscript" distribution. Just use the "Find and Replace" option in your favorite text processor...

    right?

  2. I was hoping for more than what I heard... on Arcade Remixes And The Six Million Dollar Cabinet · · Score: 1

    the files are ok but,
most of them are dredfully similar to their originals, using very limited sound ranges and polyphony; perhaps this was the authors intent.

However, as a musician, I would certainly like to throw some new instrumentation at these charts, and use the new freedom of polyphony thoroughly!

Also, the midi colors seem quite prevelent; lets hear some real live players milking this stuff up!

I'm tempted to go arrange some of that MegaMan3 stuff... loved the game when I was kid :-)

  3. winace - best zip / unzip utility on What Happens To The X-Box If Microsoft Is Split? · · Score: 1

    try the shareware http://www.winace.com
yes this is off topic but if people are looking for MS to bundle a zip/unzip.. well I'd want this one :-)

I'm wondering if you can get some windows binaries of wine...

haha.. yes this is supposed to be funny.

  8. Funerals? What about concerts? on 'Texting' Takes Over The Philippines · · Score: 1

Worst case is at a concert!!!!

    AsolamioBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!

  9. Reliability... on Game Development in Mozilla · · Score: 1

I would say that a good portion of what can be done on the desktop can be done in mozilla.

Unfortunately, I wanted to actually use the applications that I have on my desktop... not watch them crash every minute like in Windows or... Mozilla!

Yes, this is flaimbait- but also the harsh truth.

  10. I don't know about you guys... on The Social Life Of Information · · Score: 1

but last I checked, we human's tend to use 0's and 1's, instead of O's and 1's to represent binary. :-)

Go on, moderate me down. It's pretty bad, though, when I can't read one paragraph in SlashDot without finding several quite careless mistakes. If you think this is no big deal, try using Netscape, and see if the programmers found some bugs to be "no big deal" as well!

Alright, I'm offtopic now. Go on, take the karma...

  11. Hemos is a mouse. on Genetically Engineered "Smart" Mice · · Score: 1

Can you imagine spending hours a day with your neck in a nice tilted downward position? ouch!

I like my display at eye-level, thanks :-)

  16. my computer is my slave on Bill Joy On Extinction of Humans · · Score: 1

it just sits around all day, waiting for my next keystroke, getting email, telling people on my buddy list where I am, downloading files, updating its clock, and it does just as I command... just like a perfect, well behaved slave! just how I like it

  17. This "kernel" stuff is just like the post office.. on Glimmers From The 2.4 Horizon · · Score: 1

the mail's always coming in, and you gotta keep movin' it out... it's no wonder most of you people haven't gone in sane... or, have you all....

    sheessh!

  19. Finale is the god of notation on What Is The State Of MIDI Support Under Linux? · · Score: 1

As much as I would love to use linux notation software, there is none even a little bit close to software like Finale or Sibelius or other windows notation packages. Althought they have steep learning curves, these programs allow you to do anything when it comes to notation... I can't imagine any of them will be matched with a linux equivelant unless someone is willing to put for some serious time ; personally, that's time I need to spend working on music....

  20. NETBEUI + SMB = superfast on Procom to Release NETBEUI for Linux · · Score: 1

on my good ol' 10baseT home network, I used to use TCP/IP for absolutely everything.. including file sharing. what I found out is that using NETBEUI as a protocol for file sharing speeds things up 100fold or more!! no joke!! so this could really speed things up.

this could be good news :-)

  21. NOW is when to use a DOS attack! on GoHip.com ActiveX Wreaks Havoc · · Score: 1
Just think, we all join together to shut down a lousey site like this... and everyone is happy!

    Horray for Pokey!

  22. Marginalization is good! on Red Hat Teams with Real Networks · · Score: 1

Marginalization has resulted in good, cheap, hardworking, lots of interchangeability of X86 hardware!! This is a good thing! We only need one platform.. and we only need one OS. :-)

  23. RealVideo Broadcast? on Red Hat Teams with Real Networks · · Score: 1

So does this mean, with my ati tv tuner and gatos working, that I could broadcast realtime video from my box?

  24. just think of how music is on 3D LCD's for Sale · · Score: 2

For true stereo sound, you must stand in the middle of the speakers.. or wear the lightweight headphones and move as you wish...

but now with our quadriphonic systems we can move about quite freely and still get a good effect~

now apply this to current video technology.. it's on "mono"!
