I've actually thought about doing it as a side job or something because its so time consuming and so many clueless people out there need a lot of help.
I cleaned over 800 instances of spyware/trojans etc off my neighbors pc. Google was even highjacked on his pc.
I'm actually a nice guy and i'm not out of control. I'm just becoming more defensive and vocal about what i think is happening to our country.
I think i'm more inspired, than out of control. Because i will listen to all points of views.

Yeah this has been happening for sometime now. 3d games have become boring to even myself (a 3d artist/editor/director)
The game mechanics of 3d games have remained mostly the same with very little inovation. Characters move and control the same through a map. They have very bad interaction issues due to technology limits but also the complexity in whats involved to create a fully interactive world. 3D camera movement and controls as everyone knows, is a HUGE problem. Its never in the right spot. Its always doing the wrong thing. How in the hell can you expect a PC to pick out artistic shots? It just knows to "constrain camera target to main hero character until camera target = plus or minus 180 degrees from the camera, then cut to next camera... constrain camera target to main hero" and repeat.
The fact that games like doom, unreal, etc are repeated each year over and over is proof that we've hit a wall in game play mechanics. Thats why we have franchise sequels instead of truely new games.
And the real reason why we see so many sequels is this.
Movies have even more technological limits than video games. Yet they have been around longer.
The trick is in presentation and story. Thats why DOOM 1 has been polished up into DOOM 2, then Quake, then quake 2, quake arena, and now DOOM 3.
At the heart of it... Its the same game with new window dressings each year.
Game play from Doom 2 to Quake was a bigger jump because you went from fake 3d to real 3d. But really the mechanics of the game play have stayed the same. Run, Jump, Shoot, Strafe.
Theres just so much you can do. But we havent hit that limit yet. In some respects we have but there are some areas of 3d games that havent been touched or explored yet.
Mainly because they require R&D in game play, fancy complex 3d trickery etc
3D is quite difficult. Making a characters hand scrape along the wall freddy kruger style as it runs... hmm yeah you could do it but how convincing would it be?
How about Jackie Chan style fights? We've been playing double dragon for years now in various forms because no one seems to care enough to come up with game play mechanics that solve that artistic vision.
And even that is possible. But the suits tell the developers to "SPEED IT UP":) They dont care about those issues. They care about release dates, market research, and profits. The big fucking joke is that all of that stuff means shit in the real scheme of success. All of that market research is based on games that broke the mold and sold well. And of course all of the clones of that game. So if you figured out something new, they would be clawing at your balls with fist full of dollars begging you to sign with them.
Yet they have no fucking interest in paying developers to just R&D. Instead they want to pay developers to recreate the game that last sold well.

Actually they would be porting stuff. I'm a 3d animator myself. Pixar runs their own set of tools for animation. Maya may be on MAC... but Pixar's own software is not. Well it probably is, or will be very shortly. But rest assured that if ALL of pixar's workstations for animators are being converted to MACs... then Pixar WILL be porting over their entire animation suite of tools that are and have been developed by Pixar for over 15 years now.
I'm not just talking about renderman. Pixar has their own animation tools and 3d control environments for scripting, rigging, animating, shader editing etc.
Pixar only uses Maya for modelling mostly. Infact i know a few Maya drivers at Pixar.

There was a 16 year old girl this year who died, going in for a fairly rutine surgery that would save her life. They killed her by giving her the wrong blood type.
Blood type is one of the most BASIC of all things to run through your check list of things to be aware of.

I am one of the senior artists on Savage. Atleast I was... I left towards the end of the project for health reasons but remain very good friends with the folks invovled.
They are hard working folks and they do care about the community greatly. When we set out to start Savage, the goal was ALWAYS to involve our audience. We wanted to make the gameing community feel apart of something and to bring a sense of community.
We're gamers, we would play quake, counter strike, Rainbow 6, etc online together. You name it. We knew each other for a while even before S2games creation. So it was a family/friendship like thing. It still is.
And we wanted THAT to be our outlook on the community. If our audience is invovled, they feel respected and they get heard.
Usually the norm is, as you stated... from other companies... is a dull lifeless, seperation between the developers and the gamers. We didnt want that. We like our audience and wanted to be apart of their world as much as we could.
As i've said i no longer work at S2. But the mentality is still there, and most of the folks who started on savage are all still there.
Keep looking for good things to come from them cause they really do love games. I mean that. They are gamers. ALL of them. All the way up to the primary investor.

Enterprise suffers from many things. First, the total reliance on tits and ass, rather than story and morals.
Enterprise does not contain a crew of actors, but instead, a crew of jack off material. The girls are all pretty and easily sold like whores to the stereotypical geek audience that paramount thinks watches Trek.
In other words, Paramount thinks its audience is stupid when infact the Star Trek TNG audience is high intelligent and very morally driven.
TNG (The next generation) had its sexy moments, but it seemed always in context to the idea that one should enjoy life in a relaxing manner while living in a highly complex world that often can drive a man mad.
Riker taking weekend vacations to Risa... to enjoy mingling with Risian women is a great example of this. Further more, Picard who has the responsibility of the ship, and the welfare of its crew... never took time to vacation... was always serious and dueing his duty. Picard while a highly moral character, is a flawwed human like all of us. Riker even suggests to Picard to take a vacation on Risa... and Picard reluctantly does.
TNG is a great show, that had a cast which felt like a family. Each had their duty, but outside of the job, they were friends on board the enterprise. Poker nights on fridays, Adventures in the holadeck... etc. They cared for each other.. But the evolution or character arc is very apparent for each. They're relationship grew, and THAT was the importantance of TNG.
Picard started off as a man who disliked children, who ironically is in charge of a ship full of children. One of which is the child of an old friend, Beverly Crusher...
Picard's relationship with children changes... He started out uncomfortable around them, anoyed by them, but by the end of the series he has had become great friends with wesley crusher, even sharing memories with him about his old days at the academy.... So Picard opens up
And infact the entire show is about that. As we see in the final episode where Q says, "For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you... not mapping stars and studying nebula... but charting the unknown possibilities of existence."
As we see in the last episode, where Picard FINALLY joines the friday night poker games that the rest of the senor crew partcipated in. Picard says "I should have done this a long time ago" Diana Troi says "you were always welcome"
Picards last line of the series was... "Five card stud, nothing wild. And the sky's the limit. "
TNG had heart. It had relationships, it had a morale tale of justice and right, in a yin and yang way where the GREY is often the truth. Picard has broken how many star fleet regulations?:) A good running joke throughout the series... Hes a man of regulations who lives by them, and also breaks them when needed because RULES and LAW do not take into account the fluid nature of life or the unique situations of all.
TNG was SO MUCH MORE than Enterprise, Voyager, or DS9... Even far more than the original series.
TNG was the Trek that Roddenbury wanted to make. And i'm so greatfull for it.
Think about the dynamics of the cast, the interrelationships, the adventures, the morals and the great one liners which ring truth.
The witty moments, the quite moments in engineering, or in Picards ready room... Where you see the relationships forming tigther and tigher. They are so well written, so well acted... So easily beleivable.
Enterprise is a flop because it LACKS ALL OF THIS. IT lacks the originality of a DATA, or the relationship between Riker, Data, Picard, Diana, Beverly, Jordi, Worf, Obrien, a Q, ensign Roe, Wesley Crusher, etc.
Those characters had POINTS. They covered the dynamic of relationships from all angles, and they had their roles... Each as important as the next.
TNG had heart and pride... relationships, and it GAVE back to the audience by always being a warm place, full of beleivable stories, relationships, morals, and perhaps its final point, to explore the unknown

Yeah this has been happening for sometime now. 3d games have become boring to even myself (a 3d artist/editor/director)
:) They dont care about those issues. They care about release dates, market research, and profits. The big fucking joke is that all of that stuff means shit in the real scheme of success. All of that market research is based on games that broke the mold and sold well. And of course all of the clones of that game. So if you figured out something new, they would be clawing at your balls with fist full of dollars begging you to sign with them.
The game mechanics of 3d games have remained mostly the same with very little inovation. Characters move and control the same through a map. They have very bad interaction issues due to technology limits but also the complexity in whats involved to create a fully interactive world. 3D camera movement and controls as everyone knows, is a HUGE problem. Its never in the right spot. Its always doing the wrong thing. How in the hell can you expect a PC to pick out artistic shots? It just knows to "constrain camera target to main hero character until camera target = plus or minus 180 degrees from the camera, then cut to next camera... constrain camera target to main hero" and repeat.
The fact that games like doom, unreal, etc are repeated each year over and over is proof that we've hit a wall in game play mechanics. Thats why we have franchise sequels instead of truely new games.
And the real reason why we see so many sequels is this.
Movies have even more technological limits than video games. Yet they have been around longer.
The trick is in presentation and story. Thats why DOOM 1 has been polished up into DOOM 2, then Quake, then quake 2, quake arena, and now DOOM 3.
At the heart of it... Its the same game with new window dressings each year.
Game play from Doom 2 to Quake was a bigger jump because you went from fake 3d to real 3d. But really the mechanics of the game play have stayed the same. Run, Jump, Shoot, Strafe.
Theres just so much you can do. But we havent hit that limit yet. In some respects we have but there are some areas of 3d games that havent been touched or explored yet.
Mainly because they require R&D in game play, fancy complex 3d trickery etc
3D is quite difficult. Making a characters hand scrape along the wall freddy kruger style as it runs... hmm yeah you could do it but how convincing would it be?
How about Jackie Chan style fights? We've been playing double dragon for years now in various forms because no one seems to care enough to come up with game play mechanics that solve that artistic vision.
And even that is possible. But the suits tell the developers to "SPEED IT UP"
Yet they have no fucking interest in paying developers to just R&D. Instead they want to pay developers to recreate the game that last sold well.

Actually they would be porting stuff. I'm a 3d animator myself. Pixar runs their own set of tools for animation. Maya may be on MAC... but Pixar's own software is not. Well it probably is, or will be very shortly. But rest assured that if ALL of pixar's workstations for animators are being converted to MACs... then Pixar WILL be porting over their entire animation suite of tools that are and have been developed by Pixar for over 15 years now.
I'm not just talking about renderman. Pixar has their own animation tools and 3d control environments for scripting, rigging, animating, shader editing etc.
Pixar only uses Maya for modelling mostly. Infact i know a few Maya drivers at Pixar.

There was a 16 year old girl this year who died, going in for a fairly rutine surgery that would save her life. They killed her by giving her the wrong blood type.
Blood type is one of the most BASIC of all things to run through your check list of things to be aware of.
Now she didnt have an anual sallary... So the "tort reform" folks can kiss my ass. This girl died, and her life is WORTH far more than $250,000.

Not everyone can be helped? Has anyone really ever tried to prove that we can truely help everyone of us? I mean a good solid effort. Has anyone tried yet? I am one of the senior artists on Savage. Atleast I was... I left towards the end of the project for health reasons but remain very good friends with the folks invovled.
They are hard working folks and they do care about the community greatly. When we set out to start Savage, the goal was ALWAYS to involve our audience. We wanted to make the gameing community feel apart of something and to bring a sense of community.
We're gamers, we would play quake, counter strike, Rainbow 6, etc online together. You name it. We knew each other for a while even before S2games creation. So it was a family/friendship like thing. It still is.
And we wanted THAT to be our outlook on the community. If our audience is invovled, they feel respected and they get heard.
Usually the norm is, as you stated... from other companies... is a dull lifeless, seperation between the developers and the gamers. We didnt want that. We like our audience and wanted to be apart of their world as much as we could.
As i've said i no longer work at S2. But the mentality is still there, and most of the folks who started on savage are all still there.
Keep looking for good things to come from them cause they really do love games. I mean that. They are gamers. ALL of them. All the way up to the primary investor.
I cant say enough about the folks there. They really are good folks.
Enterprise suffers from many things. First, the total reliance on tits and ass, rather than story and morals. Enterprise does not contain a crew of actors, but instead, a crew of jack off material. The girls are all pretty and easily sold like whores to the stereotypical geek audience that paramount thinks watches Trek. In other words, Paramount thinks its audience is stupid when infact the Star Trek TNG audience is high intelligent and very morally driven. TNG (The next generation) had its sexy moments, but it seemed always in context to the idea that one should enjoy life in a relaxing manner while living in a highly complex world that often can drive a man mad. Riker taking weekend vacations to Risa... to enjoy mingling with Risian women is a great example of this. Further more, Picard who has the responsibility of the ship, and the welfare of its crew... never took time to vacation... was always serious and dueing his duty. Picard while a highly moral character, is a flawwed human like all of us. Riker even suggests to Picard to take a vacation on Risa... and Picard reluctantly does. TNG is a great show, that had a cast which felt like a family. Each had their duty, but outside of the job, they were friends on board the enterprise. Poker nights on fridays, Adventures in the holadeck... etc. They cared for each other.. But the evolution or character arc is very apparent for each. They're relationship grew, and THAT was the importantance of TNG. Picard started off as a man who disliked children, who ironically is in charge of a ship full of children. One of which is the child of an old friend, Beverly Crusher... Picard's relationship with children changes... He started out uncomfortable around them, anoyed by them, but by the end of the series he has had become great friends with wesley crusher, even sharing memories with him about his old days at the academy.... So Picard opens up And infact the entire show is about that. As we see in the final episode where Q says, "For that one fraction of a second, you were open to options you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you... not mapping stars and studying nebula... but charting the unknown possibilities of existence." As we see in the last episode, where Picard FINALLY joines the friday night poker games that the rest of the senor crew partcipated in. Picard says "I should have done this a long time ago" Diana Troi says "you were always welcome" Picards last line of the series was... "Five card stud, nothing wild. And the sky's the limit. " TNG had heart. It had relationships, it had a morale tale of justice and right, in a yin and yang way where the GREY is often the truth. Picard has broken how many star fleet regulations? :) A good running joke throughout the series... Hes a man of regulations who lives by them, and also breaks them when needed because RULES and LAW do not take into account the fluid nature of life or the unique situations of all.
TNG was SO MUCH MORE than Enterprise, Voyager, or DS9... Even far more than the original series.
TNG was the Trek that Roddenbury wanted to make. And i'm so greatfull for it.
Think about the dynamics of the cast, the interrelationships, the adventures, the morals and the great one liners which ring truth.
The witty moments, the quite moments in engineering, or in Picards ready room... Where you see the relationships forming tigther and tigher. They are so well written, so well acted... So easily beleivable.
Enterprise is a flop because it LACKS ALL OF THIS. IT lacks the originality of a DATA, or the relationship between Riker, Data, Picard, Diana, Beverly, Jordi, Worf, Obrien, a Q, ensign Roe, Wesley Crusher, etc.
Those characters had POINTS. They covered the dynamic of relationships from all angles, and they had their roles... Each as important as the next.
TNG had heart and pride... relationships, and it GAVE back to the audience by always being a warm place, full of beleivable stories, relationships, morals, and perhaps its final point, to explore the unknown
