I guess Jobs wont be needing intel cpus and intel motherboards. You know the PC hardware that his company moved to after their own hardware was found to be terribly poor performing and far behind intel.

So we continue to download mkv rips of bluray for example.
We're just not paying attention to their offerings anymore because they have not met the demand. We've made the demands, they didnt listen.. and now we dont care.
I do think the industry has been listening somewhat. The free DVD version of movies that come with new Bluray Releases is a nice way of listening to the public's cry about buying 1 format, and having to buy another. At least now they give you a DVD version when you buy the bluray... well at least only a few of the newer titles.
Anyways.. The people have spoken and in order for them to find freedom, they had to become criminals.
Great so Apple will open source Final Cut, Quicktime, iTunes, Garage Band, OSX, Iphone OS, iWork etc...
This is awesome news. Maybe now OSX will run on "regular PC hardware" without hacks! This is fantastic.
I'm so happy that Apple is against proprietary formats now. Its about time they open source their AAC DRM Scheme and unlock everyones music.

Adobe is far more open then Apple.
Apple wants strict control of everything. Thats why La La is gone. Thats why the second Google makes a phone, Apple hates google, who the used to love when the iPhone came out.

Apple is just too controlling.
I love my iPhone but i do not love that it took a year+ to get copy and paste. Stuff like that, and this latest Apple vs Adobe thing... is proof enough for me to hate Apple's closed dictatorship way of doing things.
Apple wants to do it all, control it all... unfortunately, like copy and paste, they cant implement things fast enough, so they stall the entire industry by saying "no"... we dont want flash on our phone, we want our html 5 contributions... which will come out... sometime somewhere.. whenever we're ready.
They should also look into why Apple refuses to allow people to isntall OSX on their "non Apple PCs"
Same damn hardware but you cant run OSX unless you buy your PC hardware from Apple.
Microsoft on the other hand, sells an OS that runs on the very same PC hardware that makes up the MAC.... except they dont restrict its usage to only "Microsoft sold PCs"
I dont know how Apple got away with that for years.
Also add:
iTunes, Ipods and Iphones that dont support open formats.

Apple does not make hardware. They used to. Now they simply sell intel cpu's in run of the mill chinese/taiwan boards... with a custom bios.
They have Nvidia/Ati cards etc
They are as PC as any other hardware sold as PC hardware.
The difference is, you can run Windows on Macs, but not OSX on non Apple PCs.

Gizmodo paid for access to it, so that they could write the story and find out exactly what the device was.
Gizmodo returned the device to Apple willingly without hassle.
I'm pretty sure this isnt the first time a news story has "broke" in such manner.
