saw their mean body mass index (BMI) go down, meaning it improved
Or possibly that the previously healthy subjects turned anorexic.
More seriously, there was an interesting article in the June issue of Scientific American questioning whether the alleged health hazards of being overweight have been severely exaggerated. They certainly don't appear to be as great as the risks associated with being underweight (not that that's a worry for me).
Eat, drink and be merry... it'll take your mind off all the depressing news.
Who you calling American? I'm a typically ignorant Brit and proud of it.
I find it highly improbable that there are two Denmarks. It's much more likely that there is just one but that it migrates. Maybe it goes to Maine for the summer to be nearer the ocean.
Except in Britain where you can expect (but by no means guarantee) 15 days of autumnal weather, 8 days of wintry, 5 days of summery and 2 days of springlike, all in no particular order.
Does anyone happen to know the date of the printed issue of New Scientist that this appears/will appear in? Would it be the last week in March or the first week in April?
He had gone to WalMart and bought a wick for a coleman propane lantern. He took some scisors and cut it up into fine pieces, and sprinkled it on his head

In the same spirit of "showing both sides", churches should give equal time to Satanism.
Its only fair.

Hey! I'm not as uniquely stupid as I thought. I did exactly the same thing last week - to my own system fortunately.
Maybe the old saying should be changed to "feeble minds think alike".
They're in the other universe of course.
A consortium of greetings card manufacturers and florists. Or am I being too cynical?
