    Supposed to say this?

I'm being cheeky about it. But, I remember when they opened the office here in Vancouver how excited everyone was and then no one was being hired here but there was a lot of people coming in from abroad to work here. The problem is on paper it always looks better to move things offshore because the "operating effeciencies" but look what happens when things are moved, poorer quality, poorer service and no one cares. I'm inclined to blame the "Walmart/everything's disposable and cheaper to replace mentality".

I'd rather have the installers available on disk but not actually installed. Then when you go through the OS installation you can pick which browser to install, or better yet, give a "have disk" option or install later. The key thing is give an end user the choice. If the system is boxed then you should go through setting up IE when you go through your initial setup.

As an aside, personally my big grief for a while there was not being able to remove IE. If I find a browser that does everything I want and I don't need IE anymore why should I keep. Unfortunately, due to my work I need it at home so I haven't tried removing IE. Otherwise I'd be fine using Flock/Chrome.

Too bad, you're gaming the system, scrap the patent and take your licks for trying to stifle innovation. In my mind you shouldn't even be allowed to patent something unless you have some form of prototype... something, anything that shows your working towards getting a product to market. If you're not willing to do that step aside.

NO it is wrong, he had a legal obligation to not act on his knowledge until it was disclosed to ALL shareholders. He's in partnership with those shareholders. Would you ever enter a contractual partnership where your partner could openly screw you over and not have to answer for it? The answer would be NO. IAMAL but my understanding is the law has simply set out a framework to make it easier for business to incorporate and for investors to put their money into those businesses. If he had foreknowledge, he shouldn't have sold off until it was disclosed and every c-level businessperson knows this. He had a fair opportunity to sell off

Drop the communism gripe because in the end saying that a group of people collectively own a business by being shareholders sounds pretty communist to begin with.

I think you need to familiarize yourself with this concept.

This correlation can not only be thought of as "Obama recieved more press and wins election" but rather as "Obama, a favorite to win the election, recived more press". My belief is that if you look at the causation it has more to do with a grassroots political effort.

Contrast this with how things happen here in Canada where we've had candidates shown very poorly in the press yet they still get elected.

I'm quite taken aback over the last while in retrospect of the election along the lines of "Well he only won because of..." or "People weren't voting for him but against..." Just making excuses for why he won like somehow it is impossible or even inconcievable for him to have won. It's this disbelief in the result that really leads me to think that the racial issues in the US still have a long ways to sort out.

My wife is big on Tupperware and a quick check showed that some products contain BPA but not all. That's just one line of products. It's quite surprising how far spread these things are.
Anyways, it's like Transfats we should know what contains it and then work towards removing it. BPA has long been known for it's damaging effects http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A#Health_effects so eliminating it altogether would be in the best interest of all. Here in Canada our Health system is stretched to the limit due to an aging population why allow something that further impacts health and strains that system? I imagine that there will be the common "Oh it's not conclusive yet!" responses. Heaven forbid if anyone needs to spend an extra penny at Walmart.

Would it be fair for me to pass a judgment on you based on this post? After all you assume, that someone posts pictures of them self and that is not necessarily correct. So I should assume you don't think through a scenario. It sounds harsh.

How about your personal biases and opinions? In an interview you can effectively screen a person's ability to make a prejudicial judgment by not stating things like age, religion or sexual preference. But when someone "looks you up" the remove your ability to protect yourself from those prejudices.

Oh and final thing, appearances can be decieving. A photo that appears to be of a compromising situation may not be a photo of a comprimising situation.

  19. Well if you're an MSDN developer... on The Future of Subversion · · Score: 2, Informative

If you are one of those MSDN shops where you went to subversion because VSS is weak, you can go with Team System. We were using VSS before and Team system is way better for version control plus it has defect tracking and a build agent. Also, they have caching server to aid distributed environments. Considering it's free (sort of) with your MSDN license (I think it's with their "team edition" licenses) it's tough to beat. It's tough to beat that, especially for larger shops. The only things I don't like in some ways is how it represents the branching and the source control permissions and that was comparatively minor problems. I work in Config Management/Build and so I don't know what Joe developer would like/dislike about it.

If you're not an MSDN shop then what to use is more problematic. I really liked subversion but that was years back. From what I recall for what it was it does well. The only product I was ever "wow'ed" with was Accurev. That product deals with branching like a breeze and I think they might have a defect tracking module now.
