How about using dvd(un)author I have a gui app which wraps this (amongst) loads of other stuff at http://burn360.sourceforge.net/ Called obviously enough Burn360
Points to bear in mind (most of which my app does automatically)
using vcr_hack makes a big difference as said above VCR player/tape quality is crucial often you will get better quality captures by encoding on the fly rather than encoding losslessly. This is because you will get more issues with pci hd bus bandwith than cpu use. I find ffmpeg native codec works fairly well. Dont get perfection but pretty good.

the thisis websites and associated papers are owned by thesame group as the Daily Mail
A little bit different - not used as a method of control

What like you did in relation to linux
I've done both (perl/cgi/postges when given the choice, MSAccess when not) and it is far easier going the cgi route
If you dont have X running you are in a bash shell after booting
Other way round I'm afraid, after all we invented the language
Why would anyone wanna clutter there screen like this
perhaps because the Clash were/are a great Band and 50 cent is shite gangster rap

Your joking right?
Nautilus lets you customise your details view (right click -> visible columns)
Bullshit
I work in an office where I am the only Linux/OO user (they use MSoffice 2000)
It is unusual when I dont get a shout "mike I cant open this file - its says its a word doc"
9 times out of ten oo opens it fine

Last time I used Mandrake, it was pretty much dsktop neutral (and used gtk for the system tools)
Simple because loads more LOVE it - me included
