  3. Re:Franchise on LucasArts Embargoes "Clone Wars" Reviews · · Score: 1

TIE Fighter - first of the top fifty games of all time for PC Gamer 1997. Computer Gaming World's Hall of Fame. Gamespot's greatest games of all time list.

Knights of the Old Republic - Game Developers Choice Awards' game of the year, BAFTA Games Awards' best Xbox game of the year, and Interactive Achievement Awards for best console RPG and best computer RPG. And ... game of the year from many sources including IGN, GameSpot, Computer Gaming World, PC Gamer, GMR Magazine, The Game Developers Choice Awards, Xbox Magazine, and G4. Interactive Achievement Awards awarded it for Best Story and Best Character Development. IGN gave KotOR additional awards in Best Sound (Xbox category), Best Story (PC category), Xbox RPG Game of the Year 2003, PC RPG Game of the Year 2003, Xbox Game of the Year 2003, PC Game of the Year 2003, and Overall Game of the Year 2003 across all platforms. In 2007, IGN listed it at #27 on its list of the Top 100 Games of All-Time.

Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords has garnered over thirty-five "Game of the Year" awards. The game received high marks from several reviewers: 8.5/10 from Gamespot, 4.5/5 from Gamespy and 9.3/10 from IGN. Based on 30 professional reviews, Metacritic gave the game an average rating of 85 out of 100.

Republic Commando - has 4/5 stars from GameSpy and 87/100 from Gamespot.

Lego Star Wars, Complete - The feedback from the game was generally positive, though it was not considered a major improvement on the previous two games. Okay, so not so good, but decent scores and the series as a whole is supposed to be good.

Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy - Not going to detail this one, but it has scores in the low to mid 80's on a scale of 100.

Now I've enjoyed each game I've played from them so I have no gripes and I'm really looking forward to playing the MMO that is on the horizon. If you're complaining that they're not getting the same super inflated scores as other titles then ... well, you know how artificial those scores all.

In other words, after experiencing some of the games, books, and movies I think the games are the best part.

  8. Re:hmmm on Comparing the RIAA To "The Sopranos" · · Score: 2, Informative

Actually, if you look at some of the episodes of The Sopranos, they talk about the music industry pre-RIAA and a lot of the strong arming and other tactics that went on.

The difference is that at some point these organizations came together and found that they got less flak if they didn't kill people and just took them to court and ruined their lives. It also turned out to be better for business.

Its just business, if it was less trouble for the Mafia to take people to court, they would. They (as an organization) don't like or want to kill. Dead people don't pay debts very well (see paragraph above).

So, in closing (and to be clear): The only reason the RIAA does not kill people is because it would not make them more money, not because it is morally wrong.

While it may not be offtopic, if you read how BitTyrant works, it would seem that private sites would want to demand its usage, as it rewards those who are uploading by creating a clique among them, and penalizes those non-uploaders (leechers) trying to "game the system".

Selfish and Tyrant are probably really bad descriptions. It isn't selfish so much as non-promiscuous.

I was born in '83 too. From what I can remember most of my injuries were minor and in all cases but one or two a constant source of amusement for my Father and a source of consternation from my Mother.

Once a folding table, one of the old all wood ones, fell on my wrist and that wasn't so funny.
Another time my dad was teaching me to hit a baseball and I managed to 'foul' it off the bat and into my face. Yup right in the face. Dad thought it was real funny until Mom came barreling out of the house like all of hell's fury. Still pretty funny though...

But these sorts of things build character, both with children and with parents. Eventually that child has to leave the nest... or at least they should. How can they do that when all of their life you've never let them walk out of range of your leash?

They're only a logical fallacy when you do not have no "independent justification of the connection between their terms". Personally, while I have no verification I certainly wouldn't trust EA (Its in the game... that you already own) that far. As a matter of fact, I trust them to push it as far as the consumers put up with. This is just testing the waters.

    See here for this:
"Note that these arguments may indeed have validity, but they require some independent justification of the connection between their terms: otherwise the argument (as a logical tool) remains fallacious."

EA wants money, and doesn't like you. Therefore, they will not be content to stop at just your browsing habits. Also, other companies will be less likely to stop as well.
