I seriously doubt it. The two that'll fight will be Nintendo and Sony, and they both know that sending out another handheld in 6 months is going to do nothing but piss people off.

Nintendo (and Sony alike) will be forced to innovate, and also to get great games developed for their handhelds, and the winner will obviously be us, no matter which company succeeds.

    Or I could be wrong.

It's also $1000+ since you have to buy all new hardware and then you'd have to transfer your data and blah blah, whereas Linux has just as many viruses as a Mac (effectively none) and can run on pretty much any hardware out there (x86, PPC, etc).

I would go as far as saying that Mac users are elitist bastards, but the same thing could be said about Linux users, since some of them are.

Either way, the best virus/trojan protection is common sense and the best worm protection is a half-decent firewall. As for spyware - just google it.

I do not try to block small banner ads like the one at the top of this page. I have no problem with those. It's pop-up/under ads, spam, and banner ads that make you scroll down to see jack shit that really piss me off. I mean, make your ads non-intrusive and I'm sure more people who actually need/want what you are offering will click that ad.

What are more annoying are pop-up ads advertising pop-up lockers that cost "only $500!". Wow, what a bargain, Firefox cam at this outrageous price of free. Meh, end rant.

  24. Re:wrong. on WinAmp Security Hole Discovered, Patched · · Score: 1

For the record, Winamp3 was not bloated. It was unfinished, rushed, and then crushed. In fact, if it had been given time, Winamp3 could have become better than Winamp 2.x. Wasabi.player (the *new* name for the Winamp3), in my opinion, will someday overtake Winamp as the most popular audio player and, given time, will have Linux (and probably Mac) ports, whereas Winamp will never be ported to Linux. Never. Winamp 5 loads Wasabi as a plugin when using modern skins. And people say it's faster than Winamp3? True, it is faster than build #488d, which was the official release, but has anyone used #499 (or Wasabi.player #499c)? It is significantly better than the "bloated" official release. Another thing that pisses me off is when people call Winamp3 bloated. Winamp3 was not bloated. You could remove anything, even the music playing core. And you call that bloated? Just don't expect anything exciting to happen when you press 'Play'. That's pretty much the opposite of bloated. Stop confusing bloated and slow, and the official release was slow. By no means was it fast, but that has changed in recent builds and the speed will continue to improve with new builds of Wasabi.player. Keeping the Winamp 2.x core is Nullsoft's biggest mistake.
