I actually called the waste disposal company for instructions.
"throw it in the trash" was offical answer.
I hope they dig thru the trash to recycle, cause the rest gets incinerated here! I don't see how burning electronics does anything good:(
I don't understand why prisons/prisoners aren't used for sorting and recycling, would it be done at a loss if you only pay pennies on the dollar for labor;) Nowdays they have them picking up litter for nothing and drop at a facility for someone to process at like $15+/hour
hehe, not as funny as it sounds when you try and infect your system cause you are trying to rebuild your XT;) Apparently i had more infected disks than i thought way back when.
Luckily even the 15 year-old 386 i was using as a go-between recognized Michelangelo:)
Everyone get one of these nice new DVD's Go buy a MEdia center PC. Return Media Center PC..or just WIN MCE cause it doesn't play media.
A big box store won't have a clue on these weird DVD probably, you could even prove the computer is 'broke' Complain to MS their MCE doesn't do what it says
Let MS do all the hard work of getting rid of these guys;p
I have a hard time believing MS will let these guys cripple the zillion copies of MCE they have sold anyway.
"including at least Intel's Pentium III, Pentium 4, Pentium M, Core and Core 2 product lines."
So, when was Pentium 3?
They waited until they were no longer in the market to sue so they cant be counter sued as effectively. Surely they must have done something they could be sued for, go get them anyway. This just smells funny. If your IP is so great why couldn't they make salable product out of it?
I think these IP lawsuits work like games...the one crying cheater loudest is probably the guilty one;)
How long to recharge battery and how easy are they to replace?
If they can only move 1 or 2 ppl and have to return it for hour or more to recharge no hospital will be interested. How much money to move 5-10 ppl a day?
Does it go down far enough to pick someone off floor?
How can this be more economical than a hydraulic/electric lift?
How long to get into/out of it? If it takes 15 min to get in/out that is 15 min less patient care. A conventional lift takes only a few minutes to position the sling. If you are not saving the caregivers a decent amount of time (and i dont really see how between the battery life and setup) then again noone will be interested.
It showed someone helping them get out of the suit. Where does this extra person come from? If 2 ppl are available they can lift the person anyways and in a fraction of the time, no?
Cool, but they better think of more uses. I dont see how it would pencil out unless it turns out much MUCH cheaper than i would guess. Can the cost of this (plus maint, software license, etc) possibly be less than hiring another CNA who could do many other things also? How can it possibly beat a $3000 (retail) battery powered hydraulic patient lift?
PS: Our company sells patient lifts to nursing homes occasionally
Here's hoping they win I have been playing Flatout everyday for weeks, would be nice if it wasn't my fault for taking out 8 cars, 4 telephone poles, a barn and a front porch on my way to work one of these days;p
Since they sold like a million copies shouldn't all the poles be knocked down by now?
shesh
And since when did they include a real gun in the box ?!? Which one of those companies gave a gun to an unstable 14 year-old obsessed with violent video games?
So i should be collecting every song off the internet so i can make a database and sell a service to musicians to make sure they didnt accidently copy any one else's song?
Just what the shelf life of these would be. Assuming it works and they figure out how to press the disk it sounds VERY touchy.
How much of a scratch would it take to mangle the BluRay data that is being read off this semi-transparent layer. I thought those were pretty sensitive to start with.
How about the stability? Will any of the optical properties change over time of any of the several compononts involved? Will your new Disney disc last til your kid is out of elementary school?
All sounds like trouble waiting to happen to me. Especially as the patent included a lot of SHOULDs to start with:(
oh well, pretty much a mental exercise as i am not going for either one for quite some time.
hehe, I might actually try and slap something together.
Love this kind of stuff ever since i found out XP does NOT support the old tape drives off the floppy port for no particular reason. I was convinced it should work so i set about finding a driver(s). Eventually i got a combonation that worked! Then i decided to scrap it as too slow after days of fussing with it. But damnit I wanted to make that choice NOT MS:)
"such as finding a way to send dvds through the mail without incurring overly frequent breakage, "
They seem to have a seperate patent on their envelopes. I see no problem with that.
The whole business model thing is too much tho. Why can more than one company use advertising to pay for a website, or like someone else said serve drive-thru food, maybe only one company should have been allowed to use telemarketers (ok, not the best example...)
Maybe patent number one would have been for growing food to sell to others as a business method...
At what point does it (well, did it) get too absurd ?
I have no idea how all the newer cards relate to one another.
Was the 6800 Gt better than the 6800 GS and has now been replaced by a 7xxx YY ? Just trying to look up yours i saw: 6800 GS Extreme, 6800 Extreme, 6800 XT and something else, but no more 6800 GT, How many of those are the same? Which is better? Heck i cant get the sequence of one manufacturer figured out much less compare to the other:(
Now i just wait until i KNOW mine is too old (that would be NOW!) and find one at about $150-200 (prices used to skyrocket after $200) so this is right in my sights anyways. I just assume the prices are pretty comparable to performance. If i recognize one card as newer it gets the edge.
Too bad i need a new box now also before i upgrade the video:(
hehe, we had a head crash on one of those 12" jobs:(
Much more interesting than these little new drives.... ended up with a full size garbage can full of aluminum shavings from the 'new' 3000 rpm metal lathe:O Even better the repair contract ate the 5-digit repair bill;)
In all these years of PCs tho only 1 major HD die out of dozens. Had a couple lose the circuit board but they were easily replaced (yeah for buying multiples of everything) and those didn't show any damage or lost any data.
"We don't even have girlfriends to go to the movies WITH, for crying out loud!"
It should have grossed 26-28 mil:O
Actually it seemed about right.
They should make a few bucks by the time it runs its course. As stupid as it sounded they couldn't expect a blockbuster could they? Possible cult flick they didnt lose money on, shut up and smile fools.
I have a tape drive in our 'server' that follows the 7-seconds rule;)
9 times out of 10 the computer loses track of tape drive when you pull the tape out (old TR-3 with cartidge hanging out)
Shut down computer for a few seconds, let monitor make its discharge noise turn it on again and it is there every time ready to go.
No restart tho, i think the firmware in drive needs to discharge or something for it to reset fully. Restart almost always leaves the drive flashing an error light. Been working this way for 'reliably' almost 2 years.
Oh well, that 'server' is just a pIII win98 box sharing a database. A forced restart each week really isn't THAT bad of thing;)
I used to buy freight damaged medical supplies and we did ok for awhile.
i had a 3000+ sq ft warehouse full at one point but too many problems
Other wholesalers/retailers were only interested in the particular product number they normally used even if something was equal or simply a different package quantity.
Soon even the charities didnt want odd quantities or small lots, they wanted pallets of gloves and money. By that point all our excess had to be put in garbage.
Between storing it, sorting it and paying to throw away the truely damaged stuff (only like 10% but it adds up quick) and now paying to throw away the odd stuff we didnt have end users for (another 25%) it got too expensive to salvage anything:(
Now most of it goes in trash even tho more than half is perfectly useable merchandise that doesnt even need reprocessing:(
And for one of the other comments, we dont recycle computer stuff here either. I just called the waste co to ask what to do with CRT....just toss it in trash. We use an incinerator in this county, they burn CRTs ?!?
recycling is hard...:(
General recycling/waste should be under contract to prisons. It gets dumped and sorted there where they can pay em pennies and keepp ppl busy. Stuff could be disasembled and recycled more.
Oh well, i guess we will dig up the landfills someday when we need the raw materials bad enough.
Oh yeah, article was fairly lame like most. More dressing than meat and potatoes;/
"assume that everyone who uses iTunes or owns an iPod has purchased lots of music for it from the iTMS."
True, most of us have a relatively small amount of purchased music. However ii doubt most of us are willing to simply throw out what we BOUGHT becuase it is only a small part of the libary or we would NOT have BOUGHT it in the first place!
i can see this being a deal-breaker for alot of people:(
At least they appear to do something with them.
:(

Can kids vote now ?
dang, i was a little distrubed when the community college did this 20+ years ago! I would have thought that went out of fashion by now :(
hehe, not as funny as it sounds when you try and infect your system cause you are trying to rebuild your XT ;) Apparently i had more infected disks than i thought way back when.
:)

Great i have viruses old-enough to drive now.....
The way to cure this is easy.

This is where personal stories are handy ;)

All of ours failed within a year...ok, ok, the only IBM one
I assume a cap blew and they knew about em, the phone diag only took a few minutes and they sent a repair guy with a new MB.
Too much time on sex and gambling instead of reading slashdot
err...wait a sec
Ok, it says it lasts 30 min.

Gas-powered seems to be at 410mph
No idea why that record held so long for diesel at what seems a low number (236 vs 410)
NASA commanders will now be called Master :)

Quote was $780 to remove a couple lines of code and save reams of paper.
Why should a couple keystrokes concern em
Of course the menus/programs only recognize CAPITALS anyway so it is a non-issue
