One way we in America can help other so-called third world countries is to mandate that anybody who wishes to import goods and/or services into the US MUST pay there employees a standerd LIVEABlE wage.

Though this won't happen cause nearly all of our polticians have been bought (both repubs and dems) by major international corperations.

I presonally prefer Thomas Jeffersons mode of establishing the will of the people, frequent revolution. ;-)

Free as in free speech *NOT* free as in free beer.
Free as in free speech *NOT* free as in free beer.
Free as in free speech *NOT* free as in free beer.

the beauty of the GPL and "Free" software is that if someone comes around and charges lots of money for something you coded and released. You are free (as well as others) to distribute said software at a lower price.

This levels the playing field between companies and truly bringers a better product for less the price to the consumer.

You want to charge for your product then go right ahead, you do't have to offer the binary version for free.

All the GPL states is that the source code is made available to those who want to look at it, change it etc. The GPL also helps to protect people who release there IP under the GPL from people who would use there IP with out recognizing them.

IMO all software should be GPL, as that would provide better security and a better product to the masses.

Though it would also raise the stander d of living in said country (India etc.). Eventually supply and demand will balance the wage out so that other countries workers (India Programmers as an example), would begin to demand higher salaries, and when these salaries start to cut into the corporate profits, the companies will outsource again, the circle will start again until the world has reached an achievable equilibrium where salary and such is equal through the world.
