Face it with Bush in office, there is NO WAY IN HELL jobs are coming back from overseas. The best thing to do would be to temp out work, and also start up your own buisness. Why not start up a linux buisness? there are TONS of applications and things that Linux needs to make its self more attractive to the average user, (don't get me wrong, linux IS at the point where your grandmother can use it, but it always needs innovation to keep alive, and make it better.)
Other than that get active in politics, to get Bush and cronies out of office. It won't do much good seeing that I belive the only way to return America to its former glory days is through a revolution as grand as that little war we had with the British ~200 years ago.;-)

Sadly, this will never happen under this or any other administration. Our politicians have been bought and will continue to do the will of there corperate powers.

Not that a bill like this will do anything to companies incorperated outside the US. It would be as effective at curbing spyware as the CAN SPAM act is at curbing SPAM. Been said before, but if you want to rid your self of ~100% of the spyware and ~99% of the Viri out there, the only way to do it is to switch from using a broken, insecure browser/OS, to a secure OS and a browser that doesnt have ActiveX installed by default.
That being said, even a user who runs off a Linux box and is stupid enough to run as root all the time will still get infected. All in all it is the user stupidity that makes the spyware market thrive. If only there where laws that kept stupid peole from using computers.:-P (Wait that would rule out ~99% of everyone who does use a computer!:-P)

I don't think there is any way to limit the PUBLIC offerings of a comapany. The whole basis of a hostile take over is to gain a significunt portion of the company where you can inflence not only the direction of the company but who sits on the board, and who the CEO is.
Which is a worry I have about Googles IPO. There is nothing keeping Billy from insuing a hostile take over of Google once they go public, (though some would say anti-trust litigation would stop them, it really hasn't put a dent in there plans in the past;-) ).
Actually I think google is the only search engine I have ever clicked on ads. I never use to do that when I used Yahoo, Altavista, or **gasp** MSN, (it was my dark pro Microsoft days that still haunt me to this day!:-P ).
I don't know about that. The kids with disipline problems I knew in HS, and that my Mother deals with everyday as a sub, really could care less about getting zeros in there classes or even getting a diploma.
maybe if we actually just kicked the kids out of school for a while, the ones that dont care to be there, then we wouldn't really need detentions or suspensions. Quite frankly, everyone may be ENTITLED to an education, but if they dont want to be there I say dont let them. Let them learn the hard way that education is the to really succed in life.

The US government was never intended to be a democracy. The founding fathers abhorred democracy equating it with "mob rule". Of course they didn't like Tyranny ether, obviously, or there would have been no revolution against England.
The US government is a REPUBLIC, meaning that, instead of having authority given directly to the public, authority is given to a select few, who in turn run the government.
In that way the American government is more modeled after Rome than it is Greece. But still, the constitution divides power between three branches of government, and with the separation of powers implied in the constitution, this allows for a sufficient security against one major voice rising up to silence the others.
A little OT I think it is funny how Republicans are crying that the courts are acting out of line, in regards to homosexual marriage when, in reality, the courts are just doing its job.
I also find it hilarious, and also striking that people dismay the courts because they are "un elected". IMO, that is the great strength of the courts and ESSIENTIAL to the balance of powers in the federal government. We need some branch of the government that is separated somewhat from the consent political, partisan bickering that the other two branches engage in daily.

A warning message would be sent to the ISP, and if it is a spammer, you can go through with litigation, if it is joe blows zombie computer the ISP would pass on the warning to the consumer, with instructions on how to secure ones computer from worms and viri. If the consumer ignores the warnings then something akin to "three strikes your out" can be implimented, where by the ISP pulls the plug untill the person cleans up there computer.
Something like this is already implimented at collages across the US, and if implimented to the commerical sector could significuntly reduce the number of US zombie computers.

Actually its more socialist than anything. Mandating that there be a more equal distribuation of wealth than our current economy sees.
Goverment regulation would mandate that massive firings not happen, and would force the upper class to take drastic pay cuts.
