I've just finished creating a 3000 page doc with Word '97. Talk about SLOW!!!!! took 3 hours just to create the TOC for headings 1 & 2. Every time you change something it wants to repaginate the whole damn thing!!
Some UK VCR's have the ability to use the teletext tv listings to start/stop recording, they either just let you select the prog you want and then set the rec times or the let you select it and the monitor that page for any changes to the scheduled time. Sound familar ? This is all out of date now that we have Video Plus and PDC ( programme delivery control ).

One of the guys I work with was on a project years ago which used a mass spec to 'sniff' explosives and other illegal substances. Well one day they decided to test it live at the Port of Dover ( UK ), one of the trucks comming off the ship triggered the sniffer and so they searched it. Nothing was found so they then stripped the whole truck, still nothing. It turns out the the container on the truck had been cleaned out with washing up liquid and this had triggered the sniffer, they had only tested with illegal substances and not anything else.
If the libraries are censoring then does this make them 'content liable' ?. If so then all you have to do is use the library's computers to access information which you don't like/find offensive/or is illegal in some way and take action against them. In the end you'll either end up with just about every site blocked or no sites blocked.
I doubt that they will stop bottles. In the UK there are at least 5 types of Guiness; draught from pumps, draught in cans, original in cans ( this is non-draught and a different receipe ), bottles and bottles from pubs ( the difference being that pub bottles are 'live' still, i.e. they ferment in the bottle, where as non-pub bottles are sterilised ).
Then the answer is to educate the kids, don't underestimate them. Most children would not really be interested in porn that much anyway ( maybe for the odd peek etc ). I'd like to know what sites are being blocked, there is only one reason to encrypt blocking lists, to stop you finding out that some sites which some unelected person doesn't like are blocked. If my kids ( 3 boys ) were looking at loads of porn I'd ask them why, but not actually ban them. Let the kids decide, after all we've screwed up their lives enough already.
Does this make them liable for content in the same way that ISPs are only NOT liable if they DON'T moderate content on or passing through their servers ?
An interesting 3 examples that he mentioned:- CD-ROM - a Sony/Philips invention (Japan/Holland) VCR - JVC ( I think, or maybe Sony ), again a Japanese company. Windows - American, but ripped off from Xerox/Apple.
So maybe he really does have Japan's interests at heart after all;->
But if he used a TARDIS on loan from Dr. Who then all he has to do is keep going back to the same point in time but a different location on Earth. The TARDIS existing in a different dimension inside than out also lets him store the 600,000 tons of gifts. If he then travelled back to before he travelled in the first place then he could also replicate himself again and again as many times as needed in order to get the job done and save himself some time, or maybe the last bit is pure fantasy;-)
But is this tresspass ? The search engine has asked the eBay server for a page ( or pages ) and these have been sent back. The search engine has not 'entered' the server, and access has not been granted. If eBay want to protect the site then why don't they refuse access to redirects from specific sites or just refuse redirects full stop.
Yeah, but in the UK it's illegal to carry a slim jim unless you can show a very good reason for it; Trying to gain access to your car is NOT a good reason. Then again the Police could allways arrest you on 'suspicion' or of 'going equiped', both LEGAL reasons for arrest here.
It isn't just the USA that the French like to piss off. At the start of WWI they tried to charge us ( Britain ) for using French trains to transport troops to defend their country!
What if however, I made and sold atomic devices which were then used to say blow up the white house. Would the FBI etc. come after me as well as the 'users' of the device ? I think they would, and with good reason. You must also take into account what the goods are designed to be used for.
NTrigue can use 'X' directly. One of the options is to start an NTrigue client on the NT box and redirect the display to an X server, just like starting any X app under Unix, you can even use the Java X server that they wrote to display the client in a browser. This was all standard stuff under NTrigue, however on WinDD the X options were an extra cost. The Unix workstations don't need any special client code to do this, unlike the ICA clients required for Windows workstations.
Scaling is not easy with paper as you need to multiply the sides by root 2 ( 1.41 and a bit ) it would be easier to use 1.5. It only scales easily if you rotate through 90 degrees first.

Yes this is EU law, however I last saw it ages ago in a time far away. You could try searching the EU database ( about as easy as getting MS to fix code ).

I don't know if it's legal but the last time I looked on a MS EULA it said that opening the box bound you to the laws of MS's home state ( or something like that ). If you really want to hurt MS then move to the EU, there's a little known law here that says if a software company won't fix bugs when you ask them to then you can request the source code so that you can fix it yourself, that should tie up the legal vultures for years!

This is what QNX has always been. A microkernel which uses message passing to talk to everything else, including device drivers.

Yes, but to defeat it just cover the entire copy with ultraviolet ink.
But is gambling by credit allowed in the country where the casino is ? If so then issuing a merchant account is OK.
It was not US/NATO ( the US is part of NATO ). Rather it was action by NATO/France/Russia.
