Sometimes the best teacher in the world can't get a stubborn little jackass to learn anything. You want to point the finger? Point it at the parents who do nothing to help or encourage their kids and expect the schools to make up for the daily 4+ hours of TV and gaming that the kids get. Crappy schools need to get fixed, sure, but I'd say that crappy parents are a far bigger problem. They expect the schools to do everything so they don't have to lift a finger.

What's the point of decking it out OEM? Buy as close to a base system as you can and then upgrade it with third party components as necessary. Saves money. That $20-25k price tag is when you stuff every OEM option available into it, for crying out loud. If you have that kind of money to throw around, you'd probably just buy the OEM for the sake of streamlined support.

And OS X is certified UNIX. There was no lie there whatsoever.

The screen itself is worth about $1k alone. Dell has been selling the exact same panel in a standalone display for $1050 for some time now. Also, you ask why. It's simple: Because people will buy it. In any case, this was a much bigger bump for the lower end iMacs. The 4670 on the low end may not be much, but it's a big step up from the damned 9400M they were using. Integrated graphics on a 1080p screen? The 5670 in the midrange is also a decent step up from the 4670. The 5750 is only going to be a tad faster than the 4850 they were using. The i3/i5 in the low-midrange systems will be a NICE improvement over the Core 2 Duos they were using, no doubt about that. An interesting thing to note is that Apple is using a 2.8ghz i5 quad. Did they special order that from Intel or something?

However, Apple hasn't yet posted the new systems and pricing to the store yet, so try to match specs with the new stuff on the tech specs page.

When scrutiny increases, the police must curb their more flagrant abuses. There will always be bad cops doing bad things, but saying that we should put up with it because people need to trust the police is utterly insane. If increased scrutiny and punishment of offenses does not result in change, then the police do not deserve the public trust and likely we'd see politicians step in to do something about the problem as the public outcry would be loud enough to warrant it.

It is never okay for the police to abuse their power, and when they do, they must be held accountable just like anyone else. Saying that the police should be above scrutiny is utterly insane. If they know that they cannot be filmed and made to stand for their actions, then what's to stop them from abusing their power even further? This provides a necessary check to keep those in power from overextending that power. To strip the people of this is to put them at the complete mercy of that power, which is unacceptable no matter what kind of spin you put on it. END OF FUCKING STORY . Girls have been and still are married off that young because by that age, they can bear children, and considering the greatly shortened life expectancies only 100 years ago and the infant mortality rate, it made more sense.

Blasphemy is subjective morality. It's based on a chosen set of beliefs, a set of beliefs in an incredibly wide sea of them. Odds are, the majority of people in the world will not share all of them. Poking fun at a religious figure is not wrong to many, many people, and it's not based on being sociopaths. It's based on the idea of freedom of speech, that we can poke fun at anything and everything because that is our basic human right. To deny people that right is to deny their humanity.
