The example cited in TFS breaks down. It claims that underlying the procedural and OO methods of moving students to classroms, the work done is the same. And then it conveniently shows the functions/methods move() and move_student() as "implementation not shown".

But in real life (and OOP), moving a student might differ for each instance. Some students might have to stop by their lockers to drop off some books. Or sneak out into the parking lot to blow a butt between classes. Likewise, in OOP, the move_student() methods might differ between students. If heuristics are applicable, some students might choose a more efficient path, while the dumb ones wander through the senior lounge and get the snot beat out of them.

It's not like they (Comcast) still don't have a major head start over Google in terms of installed equipment that they could use and go into this same business. But they are too slow to shift their business plan over to the new model. Google knows this and is licking its chops like a tiger watching a crippled deer.

We have a few speed cameras in school zones. Supposedly, when the kids are walking to/from school, they drop the school zone speed to 20 MPH from 35, indicate the reduction with flashing amber lights and enable the speed camera.

Except that they turn the damned 20 MPH zone on at random times during the day. No school starting/ending. No recess. But then, when preschool gets out at noon and all the mothers are walking the little kids home, its 35 with no cameras enabled. Its a scam. It has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with catching drivers who see no kids (but miss the warning light) and figure the 35 MPH limit is in effect.
