    Maybe they will. But there are nearly infinite possible URLs vs. the 20 or so possible frequencies in any given market. Either way, they won't be a monopoly anymore.

    Not only that, a videocassette can withstand a toddler playing with it, standing on it, etc. Toddler gets ahold of a DVD for any length of time and usually it won't play any more.

    Fans of the VHS video format have been gathering outside the home of VHS for over an hour, forming an impromptu vigil for this fallen hero of home entertainment which was found dead of Degaussclerosis in its home yesterday.

    One woman, sobbing, pleaded, "But how will I record American Idol now?"

    A memorial service is planned for next week. At the ceremony, the casket containing VHS's earthly remains will be inserted into a slot on the front of a specially constructed burial vault and lowered into the ground.

    I sometimes wonder what will happen once most major cities get ubiquitous wireless internet. I suspect someone will market a "URL radio" that can play from any streaming audio in the car.

    Within a few years, ClearChannel will be gone! What a glorious day that will be.

    It is worth noting that Benito Musoulinni (sp?) who invented Fascism described it as the merger of state and corporate power. In this sense, Fascism refers to corporate control of government rather than the other way around. Thus "fascist govt control" and "private industry monopolization" are hardly opposites.

    At least with "public ownership" you can vote, hold office, campaign, and otherwise affect policy. With private ownership, you are pretty much SOL if things aren't going your way and you don't have the purchasing power to make a difference.

    Back in the day I worked maintenance at an amusement park. I had to get there at 6 AM, before the cleaning people got to the bathroomst. I went into a men's room and one of the toilets was backed up and spilled all over. So I decided, hell, it's 6 AM, no one else is here yet, I'll use the ladies room. Went in there. They have a little box, on the wall, by the toilet. DO NOT LOOK IN THIS BOX. EVER.

    Perhaps the intent is to keep implementations of Visual BASIC from springing up on other platforms. A great deal of software out there is still written in VB and this code often stands in the way of getting off of Windows for good.

    It is worth noting that 600,000 is greater than 500,000. Thus the modifier "over" is appropriate and this contains no error. Also, use of the modifier "almost" with the 3 million figure qualifies that it is less than 600,000 per diem.

    Thus you can correctly say over 500,000 or less than 600,000, but not less than 500,000 or more than 600,000.

    So there.

    It's simple really. Each piece of data is given 2 32 bit keys. One is called the selector, the other the offset. The selector key is left-shifted 8 bits and added to the offset to generate the physical address of the data. Thus, any piece of data can be accessed if you know hits selector and offset.

    This may be the big one folks. There is so much prior art for this that its not even funny. Not only that, this is the backbone of the world's economy and its rigorous enforcement may well wake up the world to the problem of broad software patents and bring about quick change to the patent system.

    May it be rigorously enforced for the good of humanity.
