Get a new business model then, websites are not supposed to make money by design. Websites are supposed to generate interest to a real product or solution.
No one wants to have ads shoved down their throat, how many people do you see jump for the remote when TV commercials come up? Its the same principal in the browser.

Every week I post the squid logs with prostat and some self generated perl scripts which post up all the users sites and hostnames (not the actual urls)

It seems to help, sometime during that period that I started posting the logs the britney spears porn sites stopped being in the top 10 and the more common ebay is closer to the top every week.

Funny, when I went to Eastern (bout 4 years ago) there was nothing but VAX terminals, you could dialup, but it wasn't even slip, just dialup to the VAX. I thought I was in heaven. I am suprised it has changed this much, perhaps if they even had that much then I would have finished my schooling there.

You can get almost any major RDMBS (like oracle or DB2) for development purposes for free. You other point is pointless too, if you want speed you need the information ready at all times, why would you wait for your box to load it into memory? I would assume the machine should be dedicated to the task at hand, no worring about trying to find life in outer space with its "free cycles"

I think its a hella fine claim, even if they do use it just to strip more licences and force their recommendations down your throat. With the big boys always fighting over the max throughput who wouldn't want to run your site 3x faster?

I think all he is looking for is tips on using the access front end to another DB backend, just to create a proof of concept. Apparently his boss likes the Access tools, so he is trying to let his boss use them. If your just gonna bitch, find somewhere else to bitch, he is just looking for information to prove to his boss that this can be done.

I have to agree, where are the technical comments?
It can really be summed up in one sentance from the qmail.org site, "Maildir is a lock-free mailbox standard which is reliable over NFS."

And straight from Dan Bernstein (inventor of qmail and Maildir among other greatness), "Maildirs, unlike mbox files and mh folders, won't be corrupted if the system crashes during delivery. Even better, not only can a user safely read his mail over NFS, but any number of NFS clients can deliver mail to him at the same time."

The only think lacking is good console tools and MUA's which most are in the works.

I am using qmail and courier-IMAP on a p133 with 40megs of ram mailserver with about 5000 messages on stored on the server, I use Outlook 2000 and a web interface mainly but have used nearly every mail client out there that supports imap at one time or another. I never see a slowdown or corrupted emails or folders.

As OpenNap gets better connected and more popular among the rest of the internet users you will find the more popular music.
