Your lucky, in our company security policy it states that no device containing confidential data is to be left unattended. I could get into serious trouble if I checked my company laptop in as baggage. (I'm sure there's also a clause in there that says I have to sleep with it if I take it home but then, that's not a big problem.)
So instead he now treats all police officers with contempt and would probably go out of the way to not help them. (although I'm sure in the states you can be arrested and charged if you don't see something that the police say happened).
I've been arrested twice. Both kindof my fault first time failure to appear in court (this was a clerical error in the courts and I was appologised too) second time I was guilty as hell I know cop new it and I co-operated fully. As far as bad experiences go I've had worse at mcdonalds ordering a cheesburger. The officers where friendly (and quite silly)
I've been pulled over by the police a couple of times whilst driving (and maybe breaking some traffic laws (apprently your supposed to decelerate when going round sharp corneres)) And the officer has always been nice and friendly (one of them gave me a demo of their in car computer systems with reg plate recognition which linked back to insurance and tax databases then we had a chat about cars)
So from my experience it seems to be how you treat the officer is how you are treated.
This is a sound plan however I suggest that any calculations on this matter are only done by one country we don't want a mix up between feet and meters again do we ?
well as Article 101 of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) defines piracy as:
(a) any illegal acts of violence or detention, or any act of depredation, committed for private ends by the crew or the passengers of a private ship or a private aircraft, and directed
(i) on the high seas, against another ship or aircraft, or against persons or property on board such ship or aircraft. (ii) against a ship, aircraft, persons or property in a place outside the jurisdiction of any State,
(b) any act of voluntary participation in the operation of a ship or of an aircraft with knowledge of facts making it a pirate ship or aircraft;
(c) any act inciting or of intentionally facilitating an act described in sub-paragraph (a) or (b)
So as you want to support the pirates this makes you a pirate.
It's not fud it's real I have experienced it my self I have seen a car catch fir a fter a few weeks of driving. It was a 1973 vw bug and the fuel line wasn't held off the exhaust manifold, couple of weeks later and boom thing catches fire.
Well I don't know what it's like over in the states but over here (uk) there's a little something the providers don't make a large fuss about and that's the contention ratio and in some cases it's really bad (something like 40:1 on a standard home dsl) so if you have a 2 meg adsl so if you only get connection speeds of 100kbs there isn't much the provider will do about it (yes I have seen this happen with a certain large provider over here who would not do anything because it was indeed in range)
So have a look at the contract you signed for your dsl and see what sort of ratio they try to give you.
If you have a problem with contention ratio then you may need to pay a bit more for say business broadband which has a lot lower contention ratio.
btw over here if say you have a 1mb adsl and you pay £20 a month for it and all your traffic goes over transit connections (which isps have to pay per mb for) and you use that 1 mb constantly the isp will loose a lot of cash as they will be paying about £30 a meg for the transit then they still have to pay the cost of the dsl connection as well.
Isn't that how babage designed his mechanical computer each part seperately then when it was all put together it didn't work because there was to much friction.
The only problem is he was 19 not 16.
