I think we can all do something to reduce spam a little. Everytime your are called upon to "help" a friend/relative because their machine is acting strangely, disable the internet connection (I mean hacksaw their ethernet port of the board or any other means they use to connect). Everytime you get a spam email spend a short time constantly refreshing the link it advertises. Spend some time to have a look at the emails find out who's relayed them and send an abuse complaint to their provider and yours (from a gmail account) Or we can just sit back and watch and hope that someone else does something about it. He was just one man with a centralised server. Imagine what a slashdoting of spammers could achieve

And that's why you should use a business isp for home use. Their bandwidth requirements during the day (when I'm at work) is quite high and there main pipe is designed to cope with that with very little contention. However when you get to the evening the isp has these huge pipes being under utilized (I win) Yes my net connection isn't the cheapest but I have had no problems with it and they never complain about how much I download.

  9. Re:Strange Result on Americans Are Seriously Sick · · Score: 1

Well the reason these results show this is.
People in the uk will themselves not to be ill because if they go to hospital they are more likely to get even worse (MRSA)
Also if a patient isn't signed into hospital when they arrive they don't exist (yes this has happened quite often).
They also encourage people with a cold or mild flu to not bother seeing the doctor and go home and have some lemsip.
Also one of your points about doctors diagnosing illnesses. If it's in the mind it's not an illness (I've been on the recieving end of this).

Chronic headaches (since childhood) - physcosematic
Skin rash over half of body - physcosematic
cracked ribs - physcosematic (well not really but this probably wouldn't of counted as an illness in this study)
So I probably wouldn't appear on the list as being ill.

And thanks to the current funding issues in the uk I can only guess our healthcare is going to get better ( It's what the pm said and I believe him).

On the plus side the more certifications I get the more money they pay me.
On the negative side I'm currently doing my MCSE.

I think that that is an interesting question.

On the one hand the need to actually prove guilt would be required before they could starting handing out their lawsuits to "recover" lost revenue.

But on the other hand it may eliminate copyright infringment and the riaa would have nothing left to blame their lackluster sales on.

    That's easy.

You download a torrent therefore not giving money to Big x corp
and because big x corps tax bill is going to be less they're not going to give as much to the government so they don't have as much money to fight terrorism therefore you would be funding terrorism.

(I am asumming that big x corp hasn't found/paid for some tax loophole that would allow it to pay the government a fraction of what it should.)
