no, good pay and "flexi" time allow for you to find stimulation elsewhere. to me it sounds like you'd be moving to a job that might be more intersting work... maybe more work, less money, and less flexible time. time and enough money to allow you to do what you want in the time that you have is one of the hardest balances in life.
security and privacy are by far the most important to me... although this responsibility isn't really totally up to the "client" but the package as a whole.

It certainly didn't ditch my google toolbar.
The only complaint I have is that it opens local.html files in a new window when they're accessed via Favorites.
If you decide you want to focus on graphics, I know a few people who attended Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood, CA and have heard nothing but rave reviews. They all have great jobs now as well.

Just an observation off the top100 list. In the 3 LotR movies, each movie made more than the previous.... while with Harry potter it is the opposite, each made less than the previous.
I see your point. I think it's also probably important for me to note that I do work for a company that is only about 4-5 years old, and it had a slight dot com atmosphere. We didn't have the chairs and all that, but we do have a ping pong table and some arcade games, along with free snacks and beverages. When we had a good quarter the whole office would be invited to go out to a place like a Dave and Busters and have some food and drink on the companies tab. I wasn't even 21 when I started here, but I still went out and enjoyed the festivities. Having something like that every few months, with smaller events in between really kept all of us happy and made us a better team (IMHO). But it is all very circumstantial.
I agreee with a lot of this. I've never been a manager, but I've been under the best manager I could ever imagine for the past 11 months... that comes to an end next week due to a buyout and me transfering departments... joy.
Anyway, I agree with all of these points except for the "not a friend, not a drinkin' buddy". I've become great friends with my manager, and it hasn't hurt our professional relationship in the least. It motivates me that much more to do a good job, because I know that my work reflects on him. He also does an excellent job protecting me from other evils around the office.
As far as the "don't talk shop with your people outside of work" might be a good rule for larger groups, but doesn't seem like a problem for my situation. All of our group hangs out with one another at some point... so this might be something to look at on a case by case basis.
Respect is huge, and it can only be earned... but I think friendship at least to some extent can be a huge plus as well.
They at least deserve congratulations for buying the game out... you own words suggest Xbox would have failed without it. You should be able to appreciate business achievements as well as technical achievements.
A few months ago (before I got rid of TV) I found myself watching (and enjoying) Justice League on Cartoon network quite a bit. It was on just before the switch to Adult Swim which was an ideal timeslot for me.
I agree that windows crashes more than I'd like it to (never), but I hardly ever experience crashes anymore. I have a laptop only now and shut it down every night, unlike a desktop I had a couple years ago which I left on all the time.
I had way more crashes (but still very few) with the desktop than I do the laptop... I say who cares? Rebooting isn't the end of the world, do it once a day and you'll be fine. (maybe?)
I think windows crashes are greatly exaggerated; however annoying they may be.
I own an Xbox, I don't own a PS2... however I HAVE both (and most other systems you can think of) between me and my roommates. We play all of them. I don't particularly favor any one over the others, they all have their ups and downs.
About the backwards compatibility thing, I would guess that 90% of the 10% of PS2 people that cared about backwards compatibility probably already owned a PS1. I mean if I didn't have a PS1, I wouldn't buy a PS2 and then go out and buy PS1 games...
Following that logic, chances are the only people that care about backwards compatibility in the Xbox Next already own an Xbox. Also, chances are if people are happy with their Xbox they'll buy an Xbox2 - if they're not, they wont... backwards compatible or not.
The only real reason I'm hoping for backwards compatibility in the Xbox Next is because my Xbox is so beat up and used that it's becoming more and more flakey. And for Halo 2, which if it's anything like Halo 1 I'll be wanting to play it for a long long time. Also Rallisport Challenge 2.
I find the transportation icon for this article's category to be ridiculous. The internet IS NOT A TRUCK!
This video is a couple years old, but an interesting overview (Mike Andrews presenting at Google) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgW2B2gKZVw I'm sure OWASP has some decent info for you as well: http://www.owasp.org/index.php/Main_Page Good luck :)

mind = blown What are these "quantum effects" (used to make a particle disappear and reappear) and how many pages would it take to explain?

do those numbers suggest that 856,000 of 1,743,500 "high-tech workers" are Software Engineers? (as of April 2004)
Why not just get Windows XP; I mean, didn't you guys hear MS when they said they were focusing on security now???
