Depends on the university. For state universities, any local resident willing to fill out a little paperwork and sign some liability forms can get access to the library, though they may not be able to remove materials.
You can't do "anything" in a good fantasy game. Good fantasy still has to have internally consistent rules. And I doubt sci-fi fans are more discerning than fantasy fans. There is just as much crappy sci-fi published as crappy fantasy. More actually, because fantasy editors are picker now as there is far more fantasy available. There is a dearth of Science Fiction for publication, so they are taking lesser quality work in the science fiction markets.
you learn best...classroom or read and play. Then take the suggestions presented and apply as you see fit. I would recommend buying the Linux Systems Adminstrator's Handbook, for a basic desk reference.
If you learn best in a classroom, I like the Linux bootcamp for a comprehensive hands on. Otherwise, I think you are just as well off with the LSAH and a couple of O'Reilly books and a computer.
Don't tell him to go to Blackhat without warning him about the horrible things people will do to his electronics there...Anything you take WILL be hacked. Your cell phone, your laptop, your PSP, your PDA...your credit/atm cards won't work afterwards or at some point during. You will have to get a new room key every night. Pretty much, while it is supposed to be a security con, they will hack and destroy everything you own, because there is always someone who wants to prove they know more than you.
Because Chomsky is such a good source for political opinion.
People should rather examine what the FBI is doing and realize the implications that those actions have on them. And then (re)read 1984 and see how our government is moving towards that path. It would be far more productive and enlightening than reading Chomsky.
Just another proposal from the mega corps that deserves nothing but a hearty "fuck you" from the rest of us. If they want to prevent piracy, they need to make content available cheaply and with better quality than the pirated product. And they don't want to.
I would point out that Ellison was trying to protect his sole source of income in filing his lawsuit. So it really wasn't frivilous. Obnoxiously pendantic maybe, but no frivilous.
There is still a significant portion of the American public that won't vote for Powell for POTUS simply because he is black. And a goodly portion of them are southern conservatives (regardless of party affiliation). Hell, I'm surprised he got as much respect as he did in the Administration given the number of Senators that belong to the CofCC.
The current Bush is not a conservative. Powell is, in truth, far more conservative than modern "Conservatives." He's not a wing-nut, and that's why the Republican party won't support him (also, probably because he is black).
You're missing something here. If his blog is any indication, Mr. O'Connor probably favors forced conversion to fundamentalist Christianity, the death penalty for gays, athiests, and doctors, and amending the Constitution to create a theocracy. Of course he prefers Keyes. He's just like Keyes.
We could pretty much expect that Powell would resign. The POTUS undermined him at every turn, and forced him to defends a war with information that was complete and utter nonsense.
Now our Incompetent Leader has promoted among the most inept of his followers to the most important position in the area of US foreign affairs. And one who is entirely lacking the expertise needed for current US foreign policy needs. The Soviet Union hasn't been important to US foreign affiars for 10 years.
Rice was a disaster at NSA, failing utterly in the job. She will continue that track at State, while probably trying to purge State of everyone who disagrees with the Incompetent Leader.
It's bad enough that Bush required loyalty oaths before people were allowed to attend campaign events. Now he wants loyalty oaths from people who are supposed to put the nation ahead of it's individual leaders. Remember the last President who did this? Think Watergate.
I'm not american, and we do have national ID cards, we've had them forever and no one ever gave a damn about it, since we aren't into conspiracy theories and the whole fearing the government thing...
And you almost certainly face restrictions on your life that many, if not most, Americans would find intolerable. We wish to preserve our freedom against the tyranny that government inevitably becomes and that is why we are against such measures as national ID cards and "papers" being required to travel within national borders.
I have a friend who works at Paramount. Popular buzz there is that as long as Gene Roddenberry's daughter continues her hate for Leonard Nimoy, the franchise is doomed. She won't approve anything that might result in royalties for Nimoy, and Nimoy has had so much involvement in creating things in the Star Trek mythos that every project that has been proposed to revitalize the franchise has been bounced because he would wind up getting money out of it. So, unless she dies in the next couple of years (unlikely, she's only in her 60s) Star Trek will likely fade away. Paramount is desperately trying to find a film franchise type of thing to replace it right now.
No, the US still has a significant military presence in the Saudi penninsula. They just aren't doing anything. But there are still bases in Ryhad(sp?). There was speculation that the creation of bases in Qatar was to allow for the significant reduction in US forces in Saudi. But nothing has ever been said about a total pull out in official briefings.
But we also know that all of the contradictory information that was available with the intelligence was stripped out and not seen by the people making the decisions. If all the negative intelligence indicators had been available, would congress still have abidicated it's duties under the Constitution to the President?
Sophos is hardly a definitive source. I'm usually more surprised when their AV catches a virus that when it fails too. Indeed, combine Sophas AV with their PureMessage anti-spam product and you will virtually guarantee that no email will ever get to a user at your organization. Unless it happens to be a new virus.
Though I also dislike the Trend av product, their virus tracking center is at least trustable.

I don't know...the lazy man in me appreciates the ease that PHP brings even if it does let idiots on the internet.

Playing World of Warcrack is a perfectly legitimate use of broadband.

Who introduce the Civil Rights Act? A Democrat Who nominated the first black man to SCOTUS? A Democrat Who issued the Dred Scott Decision? Repulicans.

at the same time on the following day, cries of bias would go out the window...
Read American Dynasty by Kevin Phillips. You will understand that you can't seperate the Bush's idealogy from their lineage.

Maybe noone has offered the idea of creating an ActionScript repository? Or there is some sort of proprietary mind set amongs Flash coders?
Don't know, but I think an ActionScript repo would get mroe action than a Euclid repo...
