Yes, they are setting a 3 year limit. I'm not talking about what they are "SAYING", I'm talking about what they are setting up to support in legal terms. People can say whatever they want. You can sign your house over to someone in your family while they are "saying" they will never kick you out and sell the house. However if at anytime they decide to do so they can and will.
"Assuming the punters are still happy to play, and the game is still working with their systems, they would be nuts to arbitrarily pull old games out of circulation just because they can......"
Yes, but at what point will they decide that the number of people still happy to play the game isn't enough to incur the costs of keeping that game running? If I pay for a game I expect to be able to play it as long as I would like. I still love playing Red Orchestra via Steam. However, it is well past 3 years and the player/server numbers are very low. This is a situation where they wouild be well within their rights and possibly see pulling the game as the financially correct thing to do. I'm sorry but for me it is imperative that if they want to set this 3 year limit you have the ability to download the game locally. I'm amazed to see consumers defending such a model.
It's ridiculous you get modded flamebait for pointing out the fact that exclusivity deals stink and it did indeed cost Oddworld alot of possible sales. Fanboys suck.
..."I live in London and many of my favo(u)rite TV shows are American. So if I want to see the latest episode of South Park or Friday Night Lights..."
I threw a flag right then. If you spend your time downloading and watching Texas' version of Days of Our Lives I have no more time for you. Personal Foul. Good bye now.
So parking meters are only in large area's where they are actually needed? Yeah, OK. I personally do not hate parking meters that are in the type of places you describe. The problem is that in most cities I have been in they are everywhere. Most of them in places that would have no issues without them at all. The parking meter may have come to be for a solid reason but once they realized the money they could make they were expanded everywhere for one reason: To "nickel and dime" citizens for every cent($15 - $50) they could get.
The point of my sarcastic post exactly but with all of the insight it lacked as well. I would mod your post if I hadn't already posted myself. Great points.
"... Radiant execs told The BBC that the deal will provide skills to inmates when they are released from prison. No doubt they would also be due for a pay rise."
Yeah, the skills to improve Radiant's bottom line.
...in my opinion. It will be nice to see Linux get support for top gaming titles. Not only that but in some cases without having to wait weeks or months after the titles initial release. No matter what your thoughts are on Valve and/or Steam I at least think they deserve praise for giving some love to the Linux community.

...physical media fro games is going nowhere at this point. As much as I like digital distribution when done right I don't believe Broadband is widespread enough to replace physical at this point. Especially when you consider some who have BB many times consider that their least important "utility" and don't always pay on time resulting in down times. It can be an also be and up and down with sketchy service in some areas as well. Going to complete digital distribution is a good way off in my opinion.
Are you confusing me with someone else?. Where do you see me stating or even implying that citizens should not have this right? I am in agreement with you on the subject.
Yes they have shown what we already knew; There are many people out there who are willing throw money away on whatever is "in" and "cool" while being clueless to many superior options. Take a look at CD sales and you will see that people have shown they will make dog crap top sellers as well. This is the society we live in now.
Once you have prove that this is what actually happens after you start allowing these types of monitoring is it actually a slippery slope argument? I think that Britain shows proof of exactly where this type of situation leads.
I'm thankful for Arizona citizens as a whole who obviously made their displeasure with this type of system clear and that it had an effect on the lawmakers.

FUN is a very subjective thing. Yes, Nintendo used the Wii and Wii Sports to bring a much larger audience to video games. However I would say for a large amount of core gamers the Wii wore thin very quickly. In my house we have 3 people who love video games; Ages 32, 13 and 9. We have had a Wii since launch as well as a PS3 and PC. For myself, being an older core gamer, I don't think preferring the PS3 is a big surprise. However even in a house with all of the 1st party Wii titles and many of the best 3rd party, the Wii simply NEVER even gets touched by the children. We have many games for the PS3 which everyone considers to be incredibly fun and when free time comes that is what gets played. Most of the people I talk to who play games are either seriously into PS3, X360, PC or all 3 and simply have a Wii because it is cheap entertainment to play when they have family or friends over who don't normally play games.
Most of the "Gamers" I talk to are of the opinion that the Wii was a gimmick put out to increase market size and make loads of money. In these goals it has obviously succeeded. However this in no way speaks to the quality of games. Most of the games are incredibly simple and lack the depth and overall quality that core gamers are looking for when they sit down at their console. 98% of those not put out by Nintendo are complete trash.

I like the way you think. In fact now I'm all excited at th.......ahhhhhhhhhooohhhhhhhhhhhh. Oops.
...coming soon to a server farm near you!
....AWESOME! (Stated with the loveable enthusiasm of Chris Farley)
I just spit coffee on my keyboard. Once again it's a shame that I have used up my mod points.
'Tis a shame that I currently hold no moderation points my fellow admirer of the pornographic arts.
Flamebait? Wow! People are so sensitive now that they get worked up over a little joke about their favorite show. /. just ain't what it used to be.

I believe the way that he was trying to use slippery slope was incorrect and off-base as you're post clearly points out. Thanks.
"Arizona citizens as a whole" was not referring to one deranged lunatic.
